If you wait awhile you may be able to get an LGA 2011 board and an ivy bridge CPU. However, we have no actual release dates or pricing info so that is a tough call to make. Your price range will easily allow you to build a very solid PC. How important is having multiple monitors now? I would reccomend sinking the couple hundred bucks you would be spending on a monitor into the system and adding a second display later.
well if I did the $1500, then my next would be like $2k on laptop, but haha idk if there is new stuff (like big leap) then I may as well wait.....xfactor19990

Just drop $2k and build yourself an overkill desktop. Gaming laptops cannot compare...

This. Unless portability is an absolute MUST laptops will give you half the power at twice the price. In regards to there being a "big leap" this may actually be the case. Currently CPUs are based on 44nm technology, intel has developed and plans to mass produce 22nm chips sometime later this year. According to their statistics these processors will consume 50% less energy whilst yielding 37% more power. What does this mean? CPUs/computer/technology in general is going to be getting much faster, much smaller and much cooler in the very near future (assuming everything goes the way Intel plans).
Along with what the rest of these guys are suggesting, another reason against a laptop for the same price would be that if you get it and in a year or so it isn't up to what you want anymore, you'd have to buy a whole new laptop. With the desktop, you'd be able to just throw in a new video card and keep rocking. Besides the point of if you start out with a good quality case and psu, they will last you a great deal of time. And besides, the excitement of building the computer and installing all of the parts is half of the fun!
Well if you can go for about $2k on the desktop you will be set for an extremely long time even building it now. I was simply saying if when the new tech comes out and you think you are gonna reallllllly want that, then wait. However, here is what I would do now with $2k.

Now, if you really want to keep it under $1500: Drop the 2600k to an i5 2500k, get an 80gb SSD (intel makes good ones or stick with OCZ), look at cheaper cases, you can drop the ram to 4gb, you could switch to a GTX 570 and/or you could get a slightly cheaper mobo. These are my suggestions.
Also, I forgot about the monitors. If a new monitor or multiple new monitors is something you are really wanting you will need to cut more corners on the build.
Here is my $2k build
HAF 932 Adv. case
CM 1000W PSU
MSI P67A-GD65 mobo
i5-2500k CPU
Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler
8GB G.skill RAM
2x MSI Twin Frozr GTX 570
64GB SSD Crucial SATA III
1TB Spinpoint F3 HDD
ASUS DVD burner
Windows 7 64-bit OEM
Total: $1940
To cut it down to $1500...
Replace the 2x GTX 570's with a GTX 580
Replace the CM 1000W with a Corsair 750TX
And remove the SSD drive
well guys to do it with tri monitor, and like max how much would I need for a budget?xfactor19990
If you don't mind me asking... what are you going to do with 3 monitors? I would say invest more $$ into one nice monitor (such as a dell ultra sharp). These can cost ~$600 each... or you can buy lower-end monitors for somewhere in the 200-250 range, but for 3 you are still looking at a substantial investment over $600.

honestly I just find it really appealing to have that much space, and games they look amazing, so immersive!OK but keep in mind that at 5760x1080 resolution or higher you're going to need a hell of a lot of GPU power to max games. Get ready to spend around $2500-4000 in total (monitors + PC).

Hmmmm sounds doable, but alot, hmmmm decisions decisions! Just built yourself a nice desktop with a nice monitor and add to it later down the road. Thats the fun of building your own; the system is constantly evolving.
yah I saw a video up on steam of deus x running on 3 monitors with AMD eye finity gotta say it was pretty slick. Get the amd 6950/6970 crossfire. The 6970 is a bit stronger than the 570 so you're good to go in power. Even 1 6970 will be enough to power 3 monitors..though I wouldn't try maxing games. Then buy up 3 monitors. Monitors are pretty cheap nowadays, Ive seen some 22 inchers for close to $100-$120, you could grab 3 of those for around $350. You will probably spend close to $2000 for the whole setup.
He wants a multi-monitor setup.. You don't even have ONE listed. :PHere is my $2k build

Triple monitor setups need to be heavy on the GPU side, ideally you should buy three 2 GB 6950's and that alone will cost you 720 {after rebates}today, you also need three IPS monitors as TN monitors with their bad angle viewing are a bad idea for a three monitor setup and IPS monitors will at min cost you 200 a piece at least so you see for a GOOD triple monitor setup you really should have 2200 dollars at least, if you want to do the build right. You can do it for less, but it probably won't live up to your expectations. If you can part will 700 more than the 1500 in your title though you can definitely do it.
If your serious about a triple monitor setup though let me do you a big favor and redirect you to hardforum.com , the people there are much more knowledgable in regards to triple monitor setups!
