Black Mesa Release Incoming

Black Mesa (from the ground up remake of Half Life with enhanced map design, improved AI, and blockbuster presentation) is finally coming, after 7 years of development; it's finally coming!!! Although the release is inevitable on their main website: blackmesasource.com. It can also be released on Steam via Greenlight. There's already a link to it on there website's front page. In light of the recent release of Big Picture mode on Steam, it would naturally be much better recieved on Steam. So please go check it out and vote for it on Greenlight!

I voted for it on greenlight. That trailer looks awesome. I'm pumped to play it now.

I could care less, looks good and is free. I'd just keep that mindset since the game doesnt have a budget or maybe they have donations, idk. The game certainly did look impressive for 08/09, but I think it will still look okay and do hl original some justice base on the preview.

Why would you be disappointed? HL1 + new coat of paint (graphics + voices + weapon tweaks). It's not something to be that excited about. It's like revisiting HL1 from a slightly altered perspective. Give it a go, it's free. Enjoy it, try to smile--but don't expect too much. It has gone through various people and changes, after all. In any case, and whatever they may be--good or bad, the long development cycle's results will show themselves.

Will probably try it out, just wish it was the whole game.

Me too. It has been greenlit and will appear on steam for free :D

So once the Xen levels become available (could take years though:P) the game will automatically update on steam.

So it's not Xen in this game. I think it'll quickly die once those levels are released though since few people enjoyed them on the original game anyway.

It's just up untill lamba core. The Xen levels will come and I am looking forward to them.

But you don't have to play them if you don't want. ;)

I never got to beat the original Half-life.

So this would be good for me. I will vote for it on Green-light as well, get my gf to do it too.

Why the hell can't i find this damn game in greenlight? I searched black & black mesa and it definitely didn't show up.

Edit: Nvm, it's already greenlit guys, apparently it got approved rather quickly.

Unless they somehow get employed by Valve or earn money from Black Mesa then it's likely gonna take years. It sounds as though they're re-making Xen too, so it's going to last longer with likely less platforming levels a lot of people hate. So I'd just pay the release now unless you're extremely patient.

They said they're going to expand the Xen part of the game i.e. making it last longer and I'm guessing less platforming.

I finally got to a DL mirror but it's gonna take 3 hours to DL :( It's gonna feel weird playing HL with new graphics and sound but damn I can't wait.

Finally downloaded and tried to install, but some of the files were corrupt...grr. Downloading again now...

If people are still having trouble downloading it. I downloaded it from this torrent in less than an hour.
