It's worth the money but it's not worth your time.fatshodan
Contradict much...?? How can something be worth your money, but not worth your time?? Anyways, Bioshock was a good game and $15 is a great price for it.

yeah... time is money (as the saying goes) after all...
Is BioShock worth 15 bucks?Tauruslink
OMG hell yeah its worth it, I played it twice through and eventually got bored of it, but this was barrowing a friends copy (360 edition). But damn, 15 bucks for the PC version???? Nothing would stop me from buying that (except the fact that I am falt broke ATM since I just upgraded my comp :p)

It's only a contradiction if time and money are of equal value. Personally, I think time is far, far more precious than cash.
I think he should buy it, but not play it.

I understand what you're saying FS, but I don't understand your last sentence. I just don't get the logic behind it.
Anyway, BS is easily worth $15. A lot of people think it's a great game, chances are you will too, TC. Now, if you haven't played System Shock 2, I recommend you play that first.

It's quite simple. BioShock is worth $15, but the ten hours it takes to play through it is a waste of good time that could be spent elsewhere. I think he should buy it, because it's a good deal, and then not play it, because it's a waste of time.
You mean you don't do that? Buy things you don't really want or need or care about because it's a good deal, even though you have no intention of using it and don't particularly want to own it? Is it just me who does that?
Perhaps it is pure British decadence. When you're used to ruling a quarter of the globe, as I am, value loses all meaning!

Not anymoooore.
I got the whole 'time vs money' thing, but to suggest that someone spends 15 bucks on something they won't even open is a bit weird. I'd rather use the money on a great meal, go out with friends, buy another game, go to the cinema, buy some music. That way you'll have a good time and spend the money on something useful.
I'm an impulsive person, sure, but I don't buy a lot of things that I never use. I often see great deals on crappy films. All I have to do is ask myself: "If someone payed you 10 bucks, would you see this movie?" If the answer is "no", I'm sure as hell not going to buy it even if it costs £1. I don't see the point in doing that. But then again, I'm not British.

Ahh, well there's your problem.
well, as a Brit myself, i'm not sure it IS a problem: and as for Bioshock, it's not 10 hours if you play it properly and explore all the areas etc - anyway, read my sig, my friend - we've been there. done it and YOU were outvoted - don'tcha love democracy? ;)

I think I explored every room and BS lasted me around 10 to 12 hours. I time my play sessions as part of my reviewing process (not that I review games or anything) and I don't think I made a mistake.
How long did it last you?
As for being outvoted, well, excuse my strong language but that's pish posh and fiddlesticks. If majority rule stands, I guess I should uninstall System Shock 2 and start playing BioShock, uninstall Fallout and start playing Oblivion and uninstall Max Payne and start playing Gears of War.
Man, democracy sucks.

Fixed.
That's against the TOU, I might have to get you moderated for that!
Oh yeah?
(As a side note, I still can't believe I haven't been moderated for all the **** I write to you and Fire, lol. I guess people are getting used to it.)
As for the games you mentioned, my impression is that no one is denying that the oldies are great, they haven't played them, that's all. Those that have praise them. Except me. I still don't see what's so much better about MP compared to Gears. The story? Sure. But the rest? Just as repetitive. Yeah, yeah, it's fun and all that, but fun is a subjective thing.

Hey, man. I'm totally open to the whole subjectivity thing, even though people who disagree with me are clearly wrong.
But I was told by JSF - his name is too long and I can't remember it - that the matter was closed and I was wrong. And, as we all know, the rules of forums are that whoever posts last wins the argument, so I had no choice but to retaliate!

Perhaps time for your medication? Every thread you post in, you try to start arguments with people over the silliest things. And your arguments are not very logical.

i find his arguments oftentimes so commonsensical (is that a word?) and rational that it shocks me that i didn't see it before and makes me check myself to see if i'm being fanboyistic (haha, i don't think that's a word...). but then again, sometimes i just don't agree with him.

Wow. Interesting day today. First I was called a console fanboy, now I'm being called illogical.
I think my cronies summed it up for me pretty nicely (I'm very commonsensical). I'm silly with my friends around here, but the rest of the time I'm pretty logical and rational. You mustn't have read (m)any of my posts, but if you'd care to peruse my posting history, you'll see that, when I'm being serious, I'm pretty serious.
Seriously.
Anyway, if you do happen to stumble across any one of 98% of my posts where I'm being logical and rational, and you disagree - please feel free to point out the flaws in my logic, or otherwise senselessly nitpick.
I have been wanting this game. To the thread creator, thank you =) This thread made me aware of the sale and I went to best buy and had them price match for me and now im currently installing the game. Would never have known about the sale if not for this thread.
