are the GTX x60 line of cards still the best price/performance cards for Nvidia? i am trying to decide between a 760 and a 770. i know the 770 will be a lot more powerful, but if i can get good performance out of the 760 like i did out of my 460... i will be happy.

@MonsieurX: The only way it will be that low in price is if it is used, judging from sites like Newegg, Amazon it is as low as $280 new.

I would go for a R9 280X

I would have to disagree with you there. I would definitely choose the R9 290 over the 280X any day. Even if it is $100 more (for MSI's that is).

Outperforms 770? Maybe in a few games, but the 770 is a great card.

The R9 290 will for sure be the better value once they release 3rd party versions with better coolers (280x is at the very worse equal in value than the 290 given the price, R9 290s with 3rd party coolers that can overclock to 1050-1100 will for sure smoke the 280x in the value department once they finally come out).

i thought i was pretty clear when i said "for Nvidia" that i was only considering nvdia GPUs.... i guess not.

i would never buy an AMD GPU or CPU for that matter. their drivers are garbage, and i prefer nvidia.

That's quite some paranoia that you have there, Geminon.

That said, I will still repeat that you should have mentioned in your thread title that you only want opinions on Nvidia GPUs.

Otherwise, you are still going to get posts about AMD GPUs.

IK you said for Nvidia GPUs only but I tell you know that your not looking at a huge part of the GPUs available that are decent. I preferred Nvidia too but now that I opened my eyes and understood that there were better cards out there that outperform them and are cheaper or a little over premium. I'm just saying that you should take a look at every possible card that is in your price range and performance needs.

That's a pretty ignorant statement - AMD GPU drivers work perfectly fine, maybe a few years back they had some issues but if you want to pay more for less that's up to you.

760 is better value than the 770. Only you can decide if the extra performance of the 770 is required for you though.

Thats weird either that is new deal, or I am blind, or Newegg has a shitty search engine. I would definitely go for that over a GTX 760.

290 is the price/performance champ. You might want to wait for better coolers though.

I wouldn't really buy any Nvidia card with current prices, AMD has them beat at all price points (if you ignore cooler issues).

@DIV1D3: I would rather have a R9 290 also but this user is asking about the GTX 760 to a 770 which is quite a bit cheaper than $400. Also, I would not buy a R9 290 until manufacturers sell them with a better cooler. I do agree though it definitely the best bang for the buck.

Regarding your previous post, I sure would hope for $100 more it would be better than a r9 280X and the R9 280X around his given budget is the R9 280X or as recommended that HD 7970 which has a great prie. Buying it now is not really that smart when one with a better cooler will becoming out in a month or two.(just guessing but it can seriously be that long of a wait)

If you've got the money then I don't see any point for comparing at all or asking us here on forum which one to get.

For the real best pirce/performance the 280X still takes it all.

The GTX 760 is an amazing card, i can run BF4 on Ultra with 4x MSAA. It's an incredible value for what you get.

At least AMD's drivers haven't fried their customer's GPUs.

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/11/17/battlefield_4_video_card_performance_iq_review/7#.UoyZ27O4ato

What was more disconcerting was the inconsistent performance between AMD and NVIDIA cards. Overall, AMD cards tended to perform better than the NVIDIA counterpart at the particular price point, with the exception of the GeForce GTX 760 vs. the Radeon R9 270X.

With each NVIDIA card, we observed frame rates to be far more varied than AMD based cards over the course of playing the game with them. It almost seems that the performance concerns that we had with NVIDIA cards during our Beta evaluation have only been partially fixed at this point.

Well people are giving you the best card for your money, its hard when someone like you holds on to issues from like 5 years ago and makes a really snarky comeback at people who still suggest AMD cards. The simple fact is, AMD cards give you more power for how much you spend. If you want to stay only choosing nvidia then thats fine, but if you ask a question like this, expect people to suggest AMD cards since overall, in a lot of peoples opinions, they would rathe rnot pay more for less power which is what you essentially do with nividia.

nVidia GPUs are overpriced and underpowered at the moment. the 780ti in particular is hilariously overpriced and doesn't have enough vram to really be future proof. Wait for Maxwell next year and see what that brings.

The correct answer to the thread title is the Radeon R9 290 with an aftermarket cooler, but you said you had no interest in AMD.

Really, you should consider just ditching this thread, Geminon - or not making any more threads for that matter. You have a tendency to turn threads - including your own - sour.

and you have a tendency to piss anyone that sees you off, because you are a dumbass. no wonder you have to come on these forums and stalk people. its the only way you can get any attention.

the comment of "what? im not paying 750 dollars for a GPU.... that is absurd..." has everything to do with the fact that the 780 TI is clearly NOT a price/performance value.

or are you to stupid to reason within the context of the thread? clearly you are.

maybe that is because 90% of the people on this forum are illiterate assholes with massive egos. its not my fault they are too fucking stupid to read and understand. the question was simple. what i got was a bunch of dumbasses telling me things that were completely outside of the question i asked.

@Geminon just forget it, seems like you almost pissed everyone here on your own thread, buy whatever you wish, good luck.

maybe that is because 90% of the people on this forum are illiterate assholes with massive egos. its not my fault they are too fucking stupid to read and understand. the question was simple. what i got was a bunch of dumbasses telling me things that were completely outside of the question i asked.

It's more that nVidia cards are a bad value at the moment. They don't have anything with a good price/performance ratio other than maybe the GTX 760. Their high-end cards are a total ripoff. They got complacent and AMD showed them up with the R9 series.

I have no brand loyalties. I had a GTX 460 last time around, but this time I had more money to spend and got a 290X. AMD's drivers aren't that bad. I have no idea what you're talking about.

AMD's drivers are definitely garbo. And they're slow at releasing them too. I've switched brands each upgrade, but for once I think I'm going to stick to NVIDIA as well. Who knows, maybe Mantle might be something you want to keep an eye on.

280x, 290, 760 gtx, or gtx 770. Choose between those.
