Radeon 5770 or Geforce 768MB GTX 460. If you get a gtx 460 (which is better than the 5770) and get an EVGA one, i think they're still giving Metro 2033 away for free.

Pretty sure that's still active.
i am liking my Saphire 5770 vapour X at 1680x1050. if u game at a higher res go the gtx460 but it chews more power so i heard.
I'd defiantly go with the GTX460 (I foolishly bought a 5770 right before the GTX460 came out, with the same budget, and have regretted it ever since). Not that there's anything wrong with my card, it's just that the GTX460 is more powerful and is more future proof, due to it's great SLI scalability.I have 8600gt that i bought few years ago and want to upgrade it. im australia u can buy a 5770 for $200 or less. gtx 460's are $100 more......for me thats a different price range. and for me at 1680x1050 its a big fat meh, especially in this age of console ports and optimised (READ: streamlined------->supcom2) it does me great. won't need a new graphics card till i ge ta higher res screen, and by then the next consoles will be out to drive the next line of graphics engines......last time i spent big on a GPU was the 8800gts 640mb at $500 for my GF's core 2 duo e6400. great card though only had a useable life of 2 years before it struggled on many games i wanted to play. got replaced wit ha gtx 275 at $300..... taught me to never spend to high if its not needed straight away. by the time it IS needed....somethign cheaper will easily do the job.
there's a 5830 on Dealnews I found for under $200. like ~150 range after deal and rebate.
but I can't guarantee it's still up. Dealnews isn't the quickest to update some product categories.
here's the link though. try it, maybe it still works. I figured it was a pretty good deal. has decent reviews on Newegg as well.
I second the gtx460. Everyone is forgetting that these babies OC very, very well, so one can expect very good performance out of that card, much better than the hd5830, or 5770.musclesergeYes and I forgot to mention this. The GTX460 overclocks like a dream. I'd defiantly go ahead and get on of these if your still deciding on what to do OP.
The new AMD cards are out in a few weeks, so I'd see what they have to compete against the GTX 460 before making any decisions, especially since this series will be the second series with DX11 support which means it will probably more than likely render it more efficiently.
If you want a GTX 460, by all means go get it...but you may regret buying it so close to AMD's launch when the first card they are supposed to launch is going to be the direct competitor to the 460.
