Batman Arkham Asylum:
+ Fun gameplay, challenge maps will make it last even longer, It's batman, lots of collectables, being stealthy is fun.
- Over too quickly, nothing to do on the island when you're finished, not a very engaging story, graphics are good but look too unreal engine 3 ish.
Assassins Creed 2:
+ Awesome story which really builds up towards the end and gets you excited for the next installment, Beautiful graphics, weapon variety, assassin tombs are fun and give some challenging puzzles, unique gameplay, mission variety, finding the glyphs add extra depth to the story, great soundtrack.
- On pc, it has that Ubisoft DRM thing, you have to stay connected to the internet to play, Some graphical glitches, Uhmm, well, it's almost perfect so nothing else ^^
No competition, AC2 was easily one of the best single player games from last year.
Theyre both exceptional games. I think both games offer the same merits, both have alot of variety, lots of awesome fights and set peices, cool gadgets, great characters. Plus after Batman you can do the riddles and challanges, after AC2 you can spruce up the villa and do side quests. Its a tie I think, but theyre both worth playing.
both games are good, I wouldnt pay full price for either but a good steam sale should be coming for one or both. I almost always feel something missing from console based games, so maybe im just biased.
How ironic, I'm currently playing both games right now, picked them up around the same time. Batman I'm enjoying a bit more but I'm only like 3% into AC2 and 5% on Batman. Both wonderful games!
Feel-wise: Batman has a more claustrophobic feel than AC2. AC2 has these fantastic views of Italy, if you want some of that.
Combat-wise: I believe that Batman looks more badass in combat than Ezio. Both combat systems are timing-based though.
Story-wise: Wouldn't want to spoil a good batman yarn. AC2's story feels kinda meh to me.
Value-wise: Batman is over before you know it although it does have Challenge mode to extend its lifespan. AC2 is massive, although most of that comes from missions where you beat up some dudes or sneak across roofs.
Shock value: Scarecrow has his moments. And AC2's treat during the credits roll is pretty awesome too.
Batman AA is by far the better game. I actually like the first AC better than the second, the second is just another generic open world game with a pretty decent story. Batman AA is a very unique blend of stealth game and brawler, and is incredibly fun.kieranb2000Glad to see another person that consider AC 2 worse than the first, no doubt the first got boring close to half of the game, but there's just something about AC 2 that makes it bad from start to finish.

I got bored of both games about half way through. Theres just something missing imo.

Yeah, AC's mission structure got dull half way through, but at least it was different from the usual open-world structures, and made you feel like an assassin. AC2 just felt like another open world game overall so was more boring all the way through.
can't go wrong either way. personally, i joined AC2's story more, but B:AA is still freakin' incredible

I would reccomend Batman AA. It has a demo while AC2 does not so you can try it out first. Batman AA is a very good game while I have not played AC2. I was not a huge fan of AC1. AC2 has the worst DRM in the history of gaming while Batman AA just has bad DRM.
I really disagree with this. Batman had better stealth, more fluid combat, better graphics and MUCH better voice acting.Everything is better in AC2, except for the combat which is almost the same.

I think they're both amazing games, so either way you can't go wrong. However, if I had to choose, I would go with ACII. I just found it a more fun experience for myself. I enjoyed the gameplay, combat, and story more than I did for Batman AA. But like I said, either way, you'll be glad you got what you did
Batman Arkham Asylum, Hands down. Assassins creed 2 is not a bad game but its not the deepest gaming experience ever, but Arkham Asylum is where its at. its structured a bit like a 3d metroid, the combat is cinematic and simple but still deep, and the platforming is really fun.
