Just a quick warning if you are trying to update your drivers while using AVG Free 2013 - you need to turn it off or it will give you a failure.

Strange. Thanks for the heads up (don't use AVG, but I used to).

Tell me about it - 1st time i have had to turn off anti virus for updating drivers, found it as i was having no luck with updating (as normal i was doing a clean install so all the old stuff had been un installed) so decided to do a system restore to which i was told my anti virus program would not let it complete the restore.  So turned off AVG and done the driver update and hey presto it works 1st time!

AVG is very good at blocking legitimate programs.

Viruses... not so much.

In my experience with AVG, it detects a lot of things as malicious. It's the sole reason why I stopped using it. :(

I've updated drivers quite a few times with AVG installed and running. It also happens to be the free version, but that shouldn't make much difference.

true that. I used to use avg and was decent but the last 1-2 years avg went downhill. Detecting alot of things as malicious , updating problems etc. Switched to microsoft essentials never looked back

I really recommend Avast for a free antivirus program.

The best free security program for those who know how to use a computer is Comodo Internet Security.
