I have never been shocked while working on my pc, but I received a huge shock from a couple of capacitors on my original xbox 6 or 7 years ago (prob the worst shock I ever received) and it almost knocked me over haha. Other than that big one, the only other shocks I have received were from a small capacitor on an old tv while trying to repair it. Anyone else have an interesting experience?

Not while working on my PC, but I forgot to unplug a TV about 20 years ago before opening it up and got quite a shock when I touched the transformer...

Tried to plug in a TV after washing the dishes so my hands were still wet. We can all guess what happened.

This,

Unless you mean wearing a woolen jumper and rubbing your feet on carpet for ages, then touching someone.

work 15 years with pc's now, never had a shock. Unplugging the power cable is something i always do but even then, every thing is weak current inside a pc (besides inside the psu then).

Changing a light globe in the dark and forgot to turn the light switch off, ended up sticking my finger in the light socket. That felt awesome.

i've never been shocked so far RECENTLY... I try to remember to unplug it if i'm doing lots of work inside of it. Sometimes I get lazy and leave it plugged in and just turn the power supply switch off. I think your pretty safe in a PC as long as you aren't taking the powersupply apart and touching the pieces inside of it. Nothing on the motherboard holds much charge once your pc is unplugged and you discharged the power by flicking the switch.

There is once or twice I did get a shock of some kind, but I think it was mostly from the phone line that was connected to my modem. It happened once or twice, and the charge was very very little, it barely felt like anything. I'm quite sure it was energy coming from the phone line and not the computer case. I guess its something to think of if you have a phone line or ethernet cord still plugged in, you may have a bit of power still running through your motherboard even though your powersupply is off.

I never got shocked by a PC.

The only thing close to that was when I was trying to assemble a computer with one of those "universal" PSUs.

Simply forgot to switch it to the right voltage and it made a huge BOOM filling the room with smoke.

I tried to quickly turn off the power in my house but I stepped on my cat and it bit me so I slipped and hit the door with my face.. nose broken.

True story.. computers and cats don't mix..

This. Although in all the years I've worked with computers, I've never had a shock touching the case either.

I've never gotten shocked while working with pc's. What I do before opening them up is to switch off the power supply then press the power button on the case to dissipate any residual charge.

never from a pc, no. i have gotten shocked a few different times working on cars. hit a wrench on both battery posts at the same time. real bad shock, wrench fused mildly to the posts. got my finger in the light harness didn't wan't to disconnect battery just to replace head lights since it resets the head unit. i did get a mild one replacing the capacitors on a plasma tv. and of course the time in 3rd grade when i stuffed a ball of slush into the outside socket at school :| why am i not dead....

One of my co-workers yesterday stuck a screwdrive in the back of a powersupply when the computer was on to check if the fan was stuck on something. He got shocked real bad and blew a few fuses in the back.

Never had a shock and been working on PCs for years.

Unplug from the mains and leave to stand on a table. Press the power button to discharge any stored up charge in capacitors or the PSU. Touch the metal sides of the case before working on anything in the case. Never attempt to open the PSU or poke anything into it.

Strange thing is, neither have I and I work on my computer out in the living room on the carpet. The shock problem only happens to careless people who aren't focusing on what they're doing.

I always unplug everything, and press the power up switch afterwards to drain some.
