I have been searching for a video editing solution that rivals final cut but so far i have found none. I don't actually wish to buy a Mac just for final cut alone, so any recommendation is highly appreciated. I have an anniversary coming up soon which require a lot of travelling between Paris, Australia and Florida, and thus, a lot of video to be taken. Am also in the hunt for a software that does brilliant DVD menu. So far i have used the following programs but none I don't think has the cutting edge that is final cut. In order of preference:

1. Pinnacle Studios
2. Sony Vegas
3. Adobe premiere
4. Power Director
5. Freemake (for converting)
6. Windows Live Movie Maker
7. Windows DVD Maker (For Dvd menu)
8. AVC (converter)

I use 3 or 4 of these at the same time to get a satisfactory end product which is a lot of hassle. I am sure there are mind blowing solutions out there which I have not listed here. So any help is thoroughly welcomed.

Cheers:)

i have used final cut pro in the past, and found Premiere Pro to be the most similar. i use it almost daily and in conjunction with Encore to create DVDs.

filmed by me and edited with Premiere Pro CS5.5

i was able to work on final cut at college, then continue working on premiere on my PC on similar projects, without having to relearn tips and tricks and most shortcuts and menu layouts seem to cross over quite well. Vegas isnt to bad if u have never used premiere or final cut before, but if u have, then u might find its laid out strange.

Adobe Premiere 6 is rated a hair higher than FCP. It's also more expensive.
