I just got into PC gaming. I love Oblivion and was looking for a similar game to play on PC. What's the best one, closest to Oblivion. With levelling up, towns, buying, selling, cave crawling, all that stuff.

It maybe just a case of Oblivion but not as good (ie big and pretty) but Morrowind is the predecessor and very similar.

Otherwise Fallout 3 is similar but set in future (and better IMO). If you have the money there are also MMO that offer a somewhat similar experience of levelling and exploring and hacking stuff though somewhat less action orientated. FABLE and FABLE II are not on the same scale but also offer an open world with plenty of exploring and action. Gothic series and The Witcher come to mind as good RPG's but not quite the same sort of thing... just very good RPG's.

Cant think of anything else right now. Hope it helps anyway. Welcome to PC gaming!

Gothic II & III

Morrowind

Fallout 3

Two Worlds (suffers from quality issues but a decent game when patched)

Run, dont walk to your nearest game fix supplier and purchase "The Withcer Enhanced Edition" right now.

When you get it be sure to install the blood patch.

hehe, no The witcher does not fit those criteria, altho I would recommend him to get it aswell ;)

Fallout 3 and Morrowind are the safest bets, since theyre build up pretty much the same way as Oblivion. I would recommend Fallout (do not that ALOT of people have technical issues with it tho) Morrowind may put the op off, but it is cheap and well worth a shot.

What does gamerankings have to do with anything? I am talking about the type of game The Witcher is, and what the OP listed as the things he is looking for in a game. The Witcher doesn't seem like a good fit (regardless of how good a game it is).

Fallout 3.

If I were you though, I'd go for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines. The good thing about the game, for me, is that it is not Oblivion-esque, but that may turn you off.

I'm loving Dark Messiah of Might and Magic at the moment. I got it free from Steam but I'd happily pay money for it. Ok its no way near as deep as something like Oblivion, but the action elements in it absolute kick ass and its just a damn fun game for something that only costs 6 quid

I'd go for Morrowind, if you don't mind reading deep text conversations instead of shallow talking conversations from NPC's and having a more detailed story oi follow and a world

twice as big to explore! Oh, and get the Morrowind Graphic Extender and the XT texture mod to make the game look halfway closer to Oblivion - and a couple creature adding and NPC ading mods to flesh out the world more!
