I have a small problem I haven't had much luck with, it's not really too big of a problem to be honest but I'm curious to find a solution purely to know why it is happening.Sometimes whenI open my DVD drive it kills my wireless connection for about 10 seconds, basically the time it takes to reconnect. It's only inconveinent (I spelled that wrong...) but I'd like to hear some ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Only thing I can think of is a power drain, or dvd drive blocks the signal in some way(highly unlikely thou)

I got a 900w power supply, and when I run games like Demigod on max everything I get no problem with connectivity anbd no problem with power drain with the graphics card or processor.

Hmm, I forget... Let's see. I don't remember to be honest, I tried to look but the label is facing against the case currently. I buy good stuff, not low end crap... I just don't happen to remember what I bought in this particualr instance.

Nope, it's actually, and I should have mentioned this before, a USB wireless network device. My other USB stuff doesn't suffer any ill effects when I use my DVD drive however.

In Windows, DVD/CD/Floppy drives are infamous for freezing up everything until the disk inside them is finished being recognized. I wouldn't worry about it...

Oh I'm not worried about it, just curious is all. It's at most 15 seconds without internet and then it's fine. Hardly any sort of serious problem.

USB wireless NIC's are notvery reliable. Have you tried connecting the USB NIC to another USB port?

No, but that does seem a tad obvious now doesn't it? I'll give that a try, see if it changes the situation.
