some hd 6850's have been coming out of the box failing or have come with errors in their coding not making them work properly.. they currently are giving special rma priority to hd 6850's that qualify.. you will notice the difference in that they will display having 1120 shaders as opposed to 960 shaders on varios identiciation tools (gpu-z, everest, catalyst control center)

these gpu's are not working properly at all and they are asking those with them to send it back for a proper working one.

this paplies to hd 6850's only and only ones from the following companies:

sapphire

HIS

xfx

asus

msi

powercolor (tul)

vertex 3d (vtx)

connect 3d

yeston

colorful

visiontek

those from diamond while they do qualify are not in the same boat but you are sitll given the same status if you should poses one such defetive card.

your card must be on this ID list..

while these 6850's with 1120 shaders do work and some stabily future drivers my not work correctly with them or may not even work correctly with the drivers already out in the market. and as a result will result in errors or not work properly..

if yours does work and you wish to risk it your welcome to.. this whole thing resulted from AIB's being given chips and testing instructions for their 650's before the change from the cayman to the barts architecture..

Lol.. oh boy. Here we go. I wonder what percentage of people who snatched the 6850's up on day of release are having this problem.

I would never buy buy something within days of its release. You should always give it at least a week so you can let other people find all the problems.:P

Wow did you ever read that wrong. "If this phenomenon exists only in the media like card, do not involve retail products."

I agree. I usually wait at least a month though. Get out all the kinks and iron them out.
