Highly depends on the game. For a game like Bioshock or Crys, I really suggest going for the 640MB. For most games however, the 640MB will be pretty much useless, especially at 1280x1024. Now if you had a 1920x1200 monitor, the 640MB version could get significant performance boosts over the 320MB version at that resolution. I think it would best suit you to just buy the cheapest 8800 you can find, don't worry about "super clocked" crap, that's all marketing to get you to pay extra money for insignificant overclocks that you can easily achieve yourself. Well, that's my two cents on that.please show me the significant performance increase then. http://xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/geforce8-roundup_10.html#sect0 1 fps...... 1-4 fps increase = 100 dollars

In upcoming games that'll require a lot more power and texture memory, yea, Crysis would benefit from a 640, same with Bioshock. I would be suprised if the requirements, or 'recommended' specs for a video card on those games are at least 512MB of ram, which the 640 of course would achieve. My two cents =plostamerican13lol cmon you've got to be joking now, maybe at 1920 res the difference may become 4-8 fps but thats stll not alot. tru cyrsis will have more texture memory but the guys at cytek WILL NOT make the requirements to be over 256mb because if it is then that rules out more than half the market and also most people would be playing on 1024 res or 1280.
I want to play Crysis, CoD4 and maybe Bioshock. but like I said only at a max res of 1280x1024. Will the 640mb be that much of a difference at that res?aceeeI can't say for sure, but Bioshock will be out in a little less than 3 weeks. Maybe you should wait for a benchmark.

They recommend a 512MB graphics card for Bioshock.
Recommended System Requirements:
* CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo processor
* System RAM: 2GB
* Video card:
o DX9: Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM (NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT or better)
o DX10: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 or better
* Sound Card: Sound Blaster X-Fi series (Optimized for use with Creative Labs EAX ADVANCED HD 4.0 or EAX ADVANCED HD 5.0 compatible sound cards)
oooooooooo i think this is becoming a bit silly now, loads of people who buy this game are going to be very heartbroken because those are ridiculously high expectations.They recommend a 512MB graphics card for Bioshock.

2GB Corsair XMS2
8800GTS 640mb @660/2160
biostar tforce 550 mobo awesome overclocker
and 80gb HDD lol, I'm getting a 500GB.
and i got Windows XP and Vista (sort of)
If anyone has seen the PC Gamer UK review of Bioshock it saids that the game runs hitchessly smooth on an entry level 8800 card (which im guessing is the 320mb version) and AMD X2 5200 at 1600 * 900 at max detail.
So I dont think bioshock will be a problem with 320mb card, especially at 1280 * 1024.
Whoa, I've had this discussion over and over again, WHY would you have 4GB of ram??? You do know on a 32-bit OS 4GB is a complete waste of money, unless of course you just an enthusiast and want the best.
Using a 32-bit OS, the max memory available for addressing is 4GB or 4096. Any component with physical memory in your system takes away from the max available memory addressing for your ram. If my memory (no pun intended =p) serves me correctly, components start at the top of the addressing amount and work it's way down, while RAM memory works from the bottom to the top of the addressing amount.
The most you'll ever get out of a 32-bit OS is about 2.8 - 3.5, you'll never see 4GB. In the bios the system will recongnize all the memory, but won't use it all. Your best bet is 2 x 1GB and 2 x 512MB,
