the 8800 gts card ur talking about are around 500 buck for me cuz i live in Canada and the card i bought cost me 250 with tax and everything............i would like to play games like crysis or bioshock on my card and at least put most of the setting on high if i can ...........so do u think i can run games like those two on some high setting eagle_mYou should be able to run those games at fairly high settings, yes. What you may want to consider is EVGA's step-up program - as long as you've only had the card for a month or two, you can upgrade to a better card for basically the cost of your current card minus the cost of the new one, which will probably be around $50 CAD.
depends what games you want to play, maybe you should have bought an Nvidia 8800 GTS which is around the same price as the card you bought (300 dollars).yoyo462001a quick scan of NCIX shows 8800GTS's around $400CDN+ for 320mb, $500+ for 640mb, without looking at tax or shipping. So.. hm, half the price of an 8800 or so isn't too shabby, it's like getting a 7900gt for ~$160-180USD after tax/ship. eVGA's step-up has you paying evga's full retail price for the upgrade card ($299USD for 320mb, $429USD for 640mb) minus your actual price paid for the trade-in card. so the better the deal you get on your card, the harder it becomes harder to step-up later on.
I was thinking about doing that also but that step up program is only good for two months i'm guessing

So if i bought a card off of newegg then I would still have the option to upgrade to something like a 8600GT or something like that, Cus i'm desperately in need for a better graphics card(currently running a 7300LE)

yeah, sort of... that's assuming that the 8600GT gets released within 3 months and nvidia doesn't sit on them until ATi's DX10 comes out. :) but if you bought.. say, this 7600GT at Newegg for $120-$20MIR = $100.. if the 8600gt gets released at the $200 price point, you could trade in your 7600GT for a $100 credit, pay $100, and get the 8600GT. the main problem to worry about is something like.. what if the 8600GT MSRP's for $200, but is actually selling for $180 or less on newegg? you'd still be paying $200.. that sort of thing.7900GT will be better than 8600GT, IMOTheDarthvaderthats what I was wondering... i hae a 7900gt aswell And I would like to think that it can give the med or low range dx10 cards a run for their money??? Obviously my card cant do DX10 which is why I inevitably need to get a new one at some point but in terms of power is my card going to be better/same/worse than a 8600gt or is it to early to tell cause of no sure information and specs?
