I've upgraded my system with 4GB of RAM, new CPU, mobo, pretty much everything. I can't decide whether I should stay with Vista 32bit or go out and spend another $100 on Windows 7 64bit.

Will I be able to use all 4GB on a 32bit OS? My graphics card also has 1GB too if that changes anything.

Thanks!

With a 1GB graphics card, I think you'll be limited to 3GB system RAM, which isn't really enough.

You won't be able to use it all for programs, since Windows reserves some RAM for hardware addressing and the OS.

If you're right at 4 GB, you're better off going with 64-bit, that way, you can go beyond that.

def 64 bit. you will get full use out of your 4 gigs of ram, and depending on what version of windows 7 you get, you can add more ram as you please.

buying a 32bit os now is like buying an integrated video card and wondering why game don't run well. sure most stuff will run on a 32bit os but 3gb just isn't enough for many stuff today. The only 32bit os that you should be using is xp, buying 7 32 is just plain stupid when everything runs on the 64bit version, oh and btw some adobe apps only run on 64bit windows now.

With Win 7, you won't have any choice but to go 64 bit. Make sure to use at least GB of RAM.
