Eh, Peter's nuts.
But the author of the article is clearly an idiot, and a console-only gamer.
surely one title will make its way to the PC that will captivate audiences the way Crysis did during 2008. And maybe the iPhone will play a bigger role in gaming, thanks to the App Store and its relative popularity. But is that really all that we can look forward to?
Epic fail.
Cryostasis
Fear 2
Starcraft 2
Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2
Empire Total War
CoH: Tales of Valor

Hmm... doesn't really seem that dull to me.
I wouldn't get your hopes up for Diablo 3 in '09. Starcraft 2 will be Blizzard's big '09 game, then Diablo 3 will probably come in 2010. I personally think that Blizzard has enough business sense not to release it's two big games in the same year. (That said, Blizzard has surprised me recently, and the fact that WoW most-definately makes enough money to pay all their employees and still make a profit means they dont actually need to use good business sense)Umm hello?
Sims 3 is comming out next month and no doubt it will be the best selling pc game of 09.
And what about diablo 3, Empire: Total War, and Guild Wars 2.
Yea, 2009 is gonna suck8)

how come noone ever mentions The Sims 3? I mean I know its a casual game and all but it draws a lot of attention to the console, maybe even more than all these other games (Im not saying the sims 3 is better than them, but simply more popular)Cryostasis

I cant believe he honestly thought 2008 was a good year for gaming.justheretodl124It was rather good for the 360 and PS3. Fairly good for Wii. Wasn't that good for PC though. For gaming as a WHOLE it was an alright year.
I don't know that Molyneux might not have a point.
I play MMOs, and I've been looking for the next one for about six months now. Tell ya what, everytime I put it out on these forums, "What MMOs are looking good and are coming out soon?", all I get is *crickets*.
Prove me wrong. Do I have anything to look forward to in 2009?
Thats just one genre though - he is speculating that ALL of gaming will be dull and empty. Do you have the new WOW expansion?I don't know that Molyneux might not have a point.

MMORPG is a pretty stagnant genre to begin with, at least the commercial (subscription based) ones... ToR might be out 2009. Maybe STO will come out someday...I don't know that Molyneux might not have a point.

Well, MMOs are what I play, ya know? I'm playing WoW now . .. revisiting it after like 5 years, and frankly it's alright. Solid, refined gameplay, even though it's a little too easy (two level 67s after only 33 days?), but it's not going to make my final cut because the social aspect of the game (a big part of why I play this genre) is lacking a lot at a fundamental level.
If it wasn't for the social aspect, well, I'd just continue to play single-player games, right ?
Had the highest of hopes for Age of Conan last year . . what a let-down that was . . .

You should expand your horizons, because I don't see things getting any better. MMOs are risky business, and there just arn't that many being made. At least not good ones, lol. Everyone wants the next WoW, but there will be no next WoW.... Except maybe whatever Blizzard releases next.2008 -
Major Releases:
MGS4
GTAIV
Wrath of the Lichking
Spore
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Fable 2
Gears of War 2
Fallout 3
Little Big Planet
AlsoRans: No more heroes, world of goo, the world ends with you, left for dead, dead space, saint's row 2, mirrors edge, chronotrigger, braid, rockband 2, Guitar hero: WT, Mario Kart, resistance 2, sins of a solar empire, Call of Duty 5, far cry 2, Banjo-Kazooi, devil may cry4, ninja gaiden 2, soul caliber 4, and do I really need to go on.
2009's titles just don't compete with everything on this list. Sure there's a ton of good games, but 2009 just doesn't have this many major hitters.
While early 2009 is shaping up to be a marvelous period for fans of the rts genre fall however is looking to be very rubbish to be a PC gamer.OoSuperMarioOThe Sims 3 my friend...its almost here! Strap yourself in!!

Considering his last game flopped big time. I've had enough of being shafted on updates and DLC by MS so its pc gaming all the way now.clyde46A flop in terms of sales? Hmmm. I'd have to check that.

I'd have to check that. It sold over 2 million copies within a week or two... scored an 8.5? I wouldn't call that a flop by any means... Maybe in system wars speak lol, anything below 9.0 is a flop...
