the cooler is completely reworked, the pcb shrung, the memory controller has been swapped out for a better one and the powersupply requirements have been dramatically reduced thats to some alterations in some other areas making it more power efficient.

the gpu requires one 6 and one 8-pin connector as we can see

also we have someone who supposedly has benchmarked the r2-290X and ehre is what i can summaries: the titan still holds sway when you turn the AA off. but when on AMD is superior to titan.

It is a Pitcairn replacement, Curacao, not Pitcairn itself. Doubt they will reuse 7950 since Curacao XT should be able to perform close to a 7950.

Wonder how the r 260/270 are going to compete with a $200 7950boost (thats going to be interesting since the 7000 series has dropped a ton in price).

The 290X looks good but I have a feeling due to the fact that where late into the 28nm cycle/games are still months away from utilizing next gen engines, most people will just wait for 20nm

Its not 20nm, I doubt its going to blow the Titan out of the water (it will equal/beat it but I doubt it will blow it out of the water which was claimed) and theres no way its going to compete with Maxwell given the rumored specs (theres either going to be a 20nm VI series or Pirate islands will come out later next year). There may be one or two users on this board that argued other points that they where wrong on (due to butthurt or fanboyism) but majority of users who argued the VI series where spot on

Alot of people (including nvidia card users) agreed that the highend VI could potentially beat a Titan at a cheaper price (hell a decently overclocked 7970ghz isn't that far off from a 780/titan, let alone a card 1.5 years newer with more cores and better architecture......).

actually, not one nvidia fanboy said it would be possible for it to beat the titan and cost much less at the same time.  Either way, i also predicted that the high end card will be close to half the price of the titan and will demolish it performance wise at the same time.  Im still sticking to that claim.  The titans specs aren't that impressive for the price, its like nvidia is just milking their early adopters as much as possible.  AMD are the ones pushing the hardware nowadays, more horsepower per square inch of silicone.

If true, looks good.  I'm still happy with my recent purchase of a 7970 ghz though.  When I actually do need an upgrade in horsepower (I got the 7970 for memory purposes more than anything), whatever AMD/nvidia come out after this new set will surely be a beast

its going to be a monster of a card, and will likely be $650-$700.  No way you're going to get a flag ship card day 1 for $300 lol....maybe you will hit that price an year from now.  No need to buy a ghz edition unless its close to the regular version in price, but you should just wait anyway for the new series to release.

My 5870 died a year after I bought it and they wouldn't replace it. *shrug*

Though I wouldn't get the XFX due to the cooler, anyway. It's much worse than some of the other coolers.

Yep, a few companies used to offer lifetime warranty, but they all stopped :(

Yeah XFX is awful. I signed my 5970 up for their lifetime warranty only to find out last year that their system had been wiped and all old warranties were gone. I didn't know they have since reduced the warranties to only 2 years. There's also an annyoing problem with the xfx brand 5970 that causes the fan to go up to 100% everytime I start my pc up. Nothing fixes it.

yeah XFX offered some incredibly stupid warranties...I mean its practically suicide to offer something like that. You will get people who will purposely break a piece of an old video card and send it in. XFX will send back a newer video card and you can keep repeating the cycle again and again.
