cos all those resolutions are widescreen, widescreen used to be 16x9 but in the last fewe years 16x10 has become more popular with pc screens.

if u look at older monitor resolutions they will be mostly 4x3 for the same reason, 4x3 is just the industry standard.

the reason y their all the same is if you had different aspect ratios then a image would look different on every pc in the world and make gaming, movie watch, photo editing virtually impossible

If you're wondering why people are moving to widescreen, it's because after much research, someone was able to figure out that our eyes are more readily adept to panning left to right as opposed to up and down. Thus, the concept to widescreens was born. Widescreens are also very nice even in non-gaming. Now one is able to watch a movie on a widescreen without the black bars bit. You can also have more docs open side by side and able to see everything on them, and it gets to feel less crowded.

They're 16:10 to have room for a 16:9 video and a seek bar.

That's the best reason I've heard so far. I always wondered why 16x10 myself.
