Software cannot make changes to hardware. If the video card/ chip is way out of date, no drivers and no Direct3D software is going to change that. The game box should have had a list of system components as a System Requirements list, a warning list not to install on inadequate or obsolete hardware. Although I am poorly impressed by the inaccuracy of the results at the SR Tests Labs web site, there is a good chance there to get a printout of the system components in your PC, so you can compare that youself to this game.

(No, I do not know the requirements, and no, I have no intention to look them up myself).

FIX :
Heres how:
1. Start the installer as usual, get to the message that tells you about the DirectX problem, do not press OK.
2. Click the "Start" button, then click "Run", type "regedit" without quotes.
3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurr entVersionApp PathsTW2008.exe in the registry tree.
4. Find the key titled "DirectX Installed".
5. Change it's value from 0 to 1.
6. Press Ctrl-Alt-Tab and close the Autorun.exe process.
7. Now start the installation again. You'll skip the DirectX check this time.

Thank you! I have just reinstalled windows xp pro, added the release candidate for SP3 wich is added recently on microsoft.com downloads, and it was just too weird to not have directx 9.0c :D This is a great fix!
