I know there are not a ton out there, but I have to say Deus Ex. What is cyberpunk? A division of science fiction media usually meant "high tech, low-life Characters are usually cybernetic organisms that deal with many situations, but usually corrupt governments.

Deus Ex for me. Such a good game. It pained me to see what they did to Invisible War.

Maddie_Larkin

Mmm...I remember using the Persuadertron to mind control nearly the entire map's civilian population...then blow up an armory and have the entire mob pick up any weapons that fall on the ground. All of a sudden, your 4-person squad just turned into an armed mob who all fire at the same time as you. Ever blow up an APC with a single volley of just pistols? :D

Full Throttle! Dystopian future, advanced technology, noir-ish monologue, loner protagonist, biker gangs, corrupt organizations--it fairly screams a certain type of cyberpunk I think.

Syndicate was brilliant, though I wasn't so keen on Syndicate Wars. Similarly Deus Ex was brilliant, and the sequel very disappointing. Cyberpunk seems to be high tech in a dystopian world, usually with oppressive government forces.

agree DE is great, but i've never agreed with those saying DE:IW was so much worse - i thought it was a great game, atmposheric and immersive, with good characterisation and vastly improved graphics. It was just the ending that spoilt it a little

For me it was a case of Invisible War having Deus Ex in the title. They took so much of what I thought was neat in the first game and removed it from Invisible War. If they hadn't made it a Deus ex game I would of liked it more but since it was a deus Ex game it had to compete with the original.

You young whippersnappers with yer modern games! I don't balme ye for not knowing about somany great cyberpunk games!

I still have 'em all, in me C64/ST/Amiga/PC collection! Sure ya got ya Deus Ex and System Shock 2's, that's fair enough. But System Shock 1 was way more 'cyberpunk' than System Shock 2 was, and if you go back to earlier times, games were 100 times more cyberpunk than the likes of Dues Ex!

Let me list just a few from me collection for ya! All cyberpunk to the core!

Beneath a Steel Sky (Adventure PC)

B.A.T (1 and 2) (RPG PC)

Bloodnet (RPG PC)

Hard Nova (RPG PC/Amiga/ST) I have it on Amiga.

Neuromancer (RPG PC/C64) I have it on C64

Omikron: The Nomad Soul (RPG PC)

Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller (Action PC)

Dreamweb (RPG PC)

There's no doubt that in my mind the best cyberpunk games game out over 10 years ago. From the Commodore 64 infocom text adventure 'Mind Forever Voyaging' in 1985 to Syndicate Wars released in 1998 some of the greatest cyberpunk games ever were released. I have listed just some of them above, but there are many more great cyberpunk games that you young children don't know about and will never know the enormous fun of playing!

I don't blame most of you choosing Deus Ex my children, you can only vote for what you know. I understand.

Dystopia is slowly but surely rising to the top of my favorite online shooters list. It may be the best multiplayer cyberpunk shooter out there.

Does Fallout count? Actually it'd be more of a cross between Steam & Cyberpunk... so I'll go with System Shock. System Shock is one of my all time favourite games, and definitely my favourite with that theme.

If you want to go there, Arcanum might even count...plus magic doesn't hurt. Or what about Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, that has lots of cyperpunk in a way.

Those are steampunk. To answer the question, my favorite cyberpunk game is System Shock 2.
