I'm thinking about getting a 7900GT.  How is that card anyhow?  Is it much better than the GS?  Just looking for something to hold me over until the dx10 cards drop in price.

Also, I have a 375W power supply, will I need to get a bigger one?

Big mistake, actually more like HUGE mistake, now is the worst possible time to buy a 7900. Wait it out another month or 2 and you will land yourself a nice 8600GT/Ultra.

Thanks for the advice, I've been trying to wait.  My PC came with a 7300LE and I just don't think it is that good.  I've heard that a 8600 was coming out in a month or two, but is this confirmed?

In a short answer... Yes... You will want at least a 450 Watt PSU to be safe unless you are running a celeron CPU... I had a 7900 GT and a P4 3.0Ghz and it ran fine with an Antec 450 PSU but when I tried to overclock the CPU it would not power the system until I upgraded the PSU. So yes.. An Upgrade would be in order... Try an Antec Smartpower 2.0 450 Watt PSU for starters... It's okay but not the best... If you can afford an Enermax 535 watt PSU that would be more to my liking... :D

Sortof... Just wait... No point upgrading until you see what the 8600 really does... I have a 7900 GT myself.. And I loved it.. You don't have a bad card and as long as you got it for a good price all is good... It will serve you for at least a year or more. If you could put up with a7300 for a little while... then the 7900 will keep you until the 8900 series comes out and you might be able to get an 8800 for a reasonable price... in which case... get a 550 PSU at least... :D

Thanks for the advice.  I will wait until March since that is about the same price I was going to pay for a 7900.  In the meantime, I will start looking around for a bigger power supply.

You realize that Vista is not ready for adoption... So getting a video card to run Vista and DX10 before this fall is kindof pointless...

Crysis comes out in July, Maybe he wants to play that, also SP1 for Vista comes out in June.

I agree with you on Vista. I sure hope SP1 solves all the bugs.

Half of them would be fine with me... :P I hate it right now... I found out the other day that I can get a OEM copy really cheap (legal and all). So I almost bought it.. Then I came home and spent an hour on vista.. They can keep it lol. I am going to order the free copy for my laptop... But I probably won't install it...

^ Yeh I used the beta about 1 month ago, I hated it too. Vista looks nice and all, but for me I think it is going to take awhile getting used to.

Oh I have final Ultimate now... MS gave it out free to people who reported enough bugs... Very kind of them if you ask me... But it's still a crap OS and I did not even pay for this copy... I will buy a copy eventually for my other computer... But not for a while.

The 8600 series will probably be better. You might get away with a 375W, but it's not recommended. By the way, do you have a dell, because I also had a 7300LE and a 375W PSU :)

By compatible you mean will it run on vista? yeah it should run on Vista but it's not a DX10 game... So it won't use a DX10 card's full potential... IE it will look the same on Vista or XP (and it will play smoother on XP)

Read up on it.. Looks nice but I really don't expect DX10 just yet... DX9 has a lot of life left in it... and since it's an Xbox title expect a dx9 game. Don't quote me on this though... Just a hunch...

It may suck now, but holding on will be worth it. Save up some cash for that $180 8600 ULTRA and a $100 PSU!
