Hi everyone.

My current specs are:

- Intel P4 3GHz (might overclock to 3.4GHz if i get a better HSF)

- 3GB DDR2533MHz RAM

- 600W PSU

- 915G intel chipset motherboard (i know it sucks)

- 17" monitor 1280x1024with DVI connection

(and yes, i do have a PCI express slot)

I wanted to add an 8800 GTS. I just wanted to ask if id get a bottleneck with my system.

Also i wasn't sure if i should get a 320MB version or a 640MB. If was to get a 320MB i would get the EVGA superclocked one if that helps. I want to be able to run all the new games at high resolution like crysis and i also do image and video editing.

Thank you so much for your help everyone.

to be honest your cpu is really letting you down, since crysis is not out i dont know whether you could run it on max, but i do know that it is going to be multithreaded so it would run better on a multicore system. dont not get the 640mb version people only get that when they are gaming on res like 1920 x 1440 +.

Thanks for the response.

I think i will go for 320MB version.

Shall i go for the superclocked version? Noramal version comes at 500MHz core and 1600MHz GDDR3, the superclocked comes at 575MHz and 1700MHz GDDR3.

no need because your cpu is already holding you back abit, and the difference between them in fps is probably about 10

well on a C2D or AMD X2 thats the difference i would expect but since you have a P4 i dont know how much more you will. but if you have the money then why not.

Don't bother with the superclocked version. Stick with the stock version of it for now. If anything, you can overclock the stock version of it in the future.

For £15 more, you might aswell get the superclocked. Anything more than a £50 + difference than I would say no.

It would be overkill with your monitor puny resolution.

Unless you're also planning a monitor upgrade, you'd best take the money and buy a new motherboard, Core 2 Duo and an 8600GT (or something similar).

Actually that £15 difference is actually £30 now.

The cheapest i have found a normal card is £170 and i found the superclocked for £200.

Here is the link for the superclocked:

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=125117&_LOC=UK

And you can find a £170 normal card from pretty much anywhere.

So i dont know what to go for now.:P
