I have a custom built PC, the specs of which are listed in my signature. Which component(s) is/ are responsible for its inability to render Crysis 3 at more than ~27 frames per second at 1920 x 1080 with all settings maxed out? I should mention that even though my signature says that my processor is overclocked at 4GHz, it's actually at its standard frequency of 2.67 GHz, because the overclock was unstable.

try turning of aa and some other settings but yeah I don't think youre gonna max it out with those specs.

edit... I don't think my 770 was getting 60fps maxed out at 1080p until I turned off aa, motion blur and set shadows to medium to get the 60 fps and I still think it had some dips on heavy action

with 7970 best you can do is 30 fps on max 1080 with 4xaa

here is a guide to figure out what settings to lower to max your performance without losing too much of the candy eye. LINK

Would successfully overclocking my CPU to 4GHz help?

It would help with the dips, but the average frame rate will only go up a few fps. Even with an i7 4770k @ 4.2 ghz and 7970ghz only seen 34 fps average

You definitely want to bring that i7 920 overclock back up. I was just gaming at stock 2.8 Ghz (usually at 4.2) and my FPS was a lot lower in most games. If 4.0 wasn't stable, do 3.9, if not 3.9, do 3.8 - so on and so forth.

Really, you just want a new videocard. My GTX 980 can barely max it at 60 FPS at 1200P.

I hope you're not refering to max settings on multiplayer, the multiplayer part is poorly optimized.

Even a GTX 980 isn't up to the task?! Double damn!

@emil_fontz:

That guide I linked shows some settings offer very little from some settings to ultra.

The early grass levels really sapped the framerates in Crysis 3. Most other levels aren't as bad.

I also just noticed that the Gauss rifle can now be reloaded (4/4) using the special ammo crate. I recall it used to be the only way to reload it was to find another Gauss rifle with a max reload of 4/8.
