The most demanding game maxed out without any mods is probably Crysis 3. There are few more demanding games than Crysis 3 but I feel that for most of them its more of an optimsation issue than just simply being demanding.

crysis 3 is the best benchmark out now. im planning on buying a mid range pc next year so i can max it out 1080 p. hopefully there are a mid level graphics card which can max it out next year!

Depending on what Framerate you want, then yeah.

If you want steady 60fps + maxed at 1080p.   Then you are prolly gonna be disappointed with mid-range cards.

Although I would love to be proven wrong by Nvidia, and AMD. :P

There is also The Witcher 2, a very heavy game to run maxed.

Arma 3 IMO

Don't buy PC with game in Mind. Buy them considering the need to keep for at least 3 years from now. i7 processor with the latest graphic card (I recommend 1 GB min) will work fine for most games. wow786
I agree with the latest card and vram amount but I7 does not offer much above an I5, it offers far worse bang for buck actually.

It depends. Crysis 3 is very very GPU bound. While ArmA 3 is very CPU bound. I'll say Crysis 3 though.

Rome II maybe? But you will still be able to run it with a weaker pc.

As you're just getting into gaming, my company can help you with deciding on what you need spec wise for the games you want to run. We can also offer better prices than other gaming PCs

I don't know why people are saying "crysis". The word being is "need". Crysis (even at launch) had fairly low system requirements.

Moded Skyrim, Crysis 3, Metro LL, Bioshock Infinity can get demanding at times and imo best to look at. Most games run good on my old gtx570 with high to highest settings but that will change later this year with next gen consoles and games coming out, thats when upgrade is needed.

Bioshock Infinite isn't really demanding. Most of the assets are copy and paste like the NPCs and even some enemies. It's very stylish, colorful, artful world but it's not optimized very well. Too many dips in that game when there shouldn't even be any. I would say, a game that most people resent because it's not like previous Hitman games, Hitman Absolution can run some mid-range GPUs to the ground. On a GTX 580, maxed out, I was not getting 60fps. More like 40-50fps. Maybe it's not the best example of a fun game, but it can challenge mid-range PCs.

The best card available at the time was the 8800GTX which would get about 30fps on high at 1080p with no AA. If you wanted to play on very high with AA then it wasn't really viable at the time.

Crysis 3 and Metro Last Light right now.

Crysis 3 hands down.

I don't mean to be an idiot but do you know anything about gaming ? Creative assembly makes their games so that weaker pc's can still play them on low settings and even on high most low budget gaming setups can handle it , The most demanding games most of the time are first person shooters ... Crysis 3 is probably at the top of the list right now , The new GTA should probably top that because of sheer size alone

OK, then FS9/2004. Any time you have hundreds of aircraft, whether in the air or on the ground as well as volumetric clouds, photo scenery, third party scenery (think airports and in some cases, cities) as well as third party aircraft, flying into major metropolitian areas can sink even the strongest PC.

As Alan already said. FSX is and has been the benchmark for games for several years. There has still not been a game released that is as CPU intensive. The games mentioned here are GPU intensive and can be overcome.

#31 Posted by SKaREO (3161 posts) -
I'd probably guess Arma III would be the most graphics intensive game out there today.
#32 Posted by nooblet69 (5162 posts) -

Probably Rome II... Haven't played it yet so can't say for sure.

#33 Posted by Ricardomz (2329 posts) -

Crysis (as usually), Metro: Last Light and Battlefield 3.

@gogoplexiorayo: Sorry but I think you won't be able to max it out with a mid range PC. I have a high end PC with an Intel 4770K overclocked at 4.0 GHZ with a GTX770 also overclocked and Crysis 3 gives only playable frame rates. Only when I turn down the anti aliasing will it run smooth.

However, most other games will play smooth maxed out with anti aliasing on my system. Remember that Crysis 3 stresses your hardware almost to the max so yes, its a good way to benchmark your computer.
