Has anyone voted for AMD or no?

Oh yeah I don't think it is that important but I have everything except the cpu, motherboard, ram, and optical drive, mouse, keyboard, and headset.

Q: Does the 7970 cost you less than the new R9 280X?

And yes go with intel all the way, about the sound card, it depends. if you'd like to take off some CPU processing power than yes get yourself some cheap Creative/Asus sound card, unless you're going to plug some serious quality of sound speakers.

Don't buy that headset. Buy a pair of good headphones instead.
