I need a wireless router that's going to allow my family to watch Netflix in one room while I play multiplayer games and not suffer from having to buffer every 30 seconds or so. A wired connection isn't possible.

Which wireless router is best for me? Ease of set up is a major plus, as well.

Use QoS on it to prioritize your gaming data.

Be aware though that you still need lots of bandwidth for both a MP game and Netflix. It also depends on what type of MP game you are playing. Things like MMOs are fine, but if you need instant control like FPS, then you need fast internet.

Either higher speeds or as @FelipeInside said, you can manage the portions that goes to Wifi.

not really, i haven't seen any multiplayer game use more than 150 kb/s(even 32 player+) that's less than 20 KB/s

netflix i have never seen use more than 6mb/s which isn't much

of course jitter on wireless is never very good

To clarify, I have Quantum FiOS, so it's not the speeds. It's definitely my router that I've had forever. But it's never been an issue until recently.

I guess I should be even more clear: I'm not necessarily looking for a specific router brand. I'm looking for what I should be looking for when I choose a specific router: Dual band, ac/n/g/etc?

wireless ac and external antennas if you want range

dual band is an obvious must

i personally only like openwrt compatible routers, very flexibly with new routers supporting vlans and not just simple switches
