Don't know what you're talking about but GTX760 cost 190£

you can get 280X for 240-250£

i meant gtx 770 and r9 280x are almost excactly the same price.

i was sure they used to be much better value AMD but the prices seem to have taken a rise

The 280X is close by performance to the 770 but back in those days when it was lunched it cost about 100-50$ less.

If the prices are exactly the same price I'd get the 770 but not for sure since the 280X has Mentle.

Well with the surge of this bitcoin mining going on most top end ATI cards are over priced. They seem to be calming down, but not back to normal.

@PredatorRules:

Yh at the moment its very similar pricing and the 770 performs better in most benches with a few exceptions like BF4, but if mantle changes that i dont want to have ordered a 250 pound card and then decide in a few months i want to change.

I always thought of AMD offered similar performance for better value but its not quite the case now.

It still is the case if the prices are equal as I told you ATI got Mentle support with this GPU, what does Nvidia can offer with it's 770? the 770 is by 5-10% stronger

You could buy the 280x Gaming Edition for £220 the other day.

I'd recommend a 280x over a 770 for the same price.

You can't mine bitcoins with GPU's anymore. Not practically. You need specialized equipment.

Its litecoins not bit coins.

Bitcoins if you are mining with an ASIC you might turn a profit under 4 months, but with the rising difficulty (rarity of finding and mining a block) most likely your looking at a much longer return on your investment.

But this makes nvidia almost the same performance for price now, so there is always that advantage. I feel lucky I bought a 290 before they got the price jacked up on them.

Didn't realize mining could have that effect on a gaming gpus price

no wonder every amazon seller runs out after a few days and their is a price change
