I am looking for a game where you play the role of a detective/investigator in order to solve the game's mystery.

I enjoyed playing "LA Noire", however I did not like the fact that the game had some action elements.

I prefer a straightforward crime solving game without the action (If you can't think of a game like this, then no problem with action).

Moreover, I don't mind if the crime sense is somehow linked with paranormal events.

NOTE: I am not seeking general mystery type game, I am looking for a crime investigating game (Where you play the role of a detective).

Any help would be highly appreciated.

@a65: Someone just posted this exact topic.

Pay $6 and get Deadly Premonition from the newest Humble Bundle. It's exactly what you're looking for. You're an FBI agent and you solve a strange mystery and it has paranormal events. It has some action but story is it's main focus.

There's also The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, which comes out later this month.

Preordered The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Game looks friggin beautiful and is coming out in a couple of days time, plus it's priced reasonably.
Also wait for a sale on Murdered Soul Suspect, it wasn't as bad as many said.

Crimes & Punishments is also coming out Next Month (depending on where you live).... Its the most ambitious Sherlock Holmes game to date and I certainly plan on Playing it..... On Xbox..... Because these things are practically non existant on consoles, I have no idea how it would stack up against other PC Adventure games.

If you can excuse clunky old school controls and can tolerate pixel art and give fedora spade episodes 1-4 a try. It plays sorta like phoenix wright series. Its free too.. so you got nothing to lose but time.

Aside from the odd pause due to a shitty puzzle (we have the internet now so easily bypassed) this is an excellent mystery and detective game .

Mixing fictional with reality. You do find out who Jack The Ripper is and it's actually done fairly well. It's plausible and logically explained.

Best Sherlock Holmes games were the Case of the Serrated Scalpel and the Case of the Rose Tattoo by Mythos.

If you enjoy Detective Mystery games, you simply MUST try out "The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief". It's the game that sent me onto a huge Sherlock Holmes Frogwares binge.

A true love letter to the mystery and detective genre. The main character is Hercule Poirot inspired, and the entire game has nods to many detective series. Excellent gameplay (a few quirks), the music is GORGEOUS - soundtrack is included in the special "Steam" edition (which is frequently on sale for crazy cheap - I got mine for $5 I think), the graphics are incredible, the story is REALLY good.

I advise a new indie game: Detective Ross - Episode 1: A PI in Paris.

The Story: Mark T. Ross is an american private investigator who recently set up his office in Paris, France. One day, a mysterious and powerful man asks him to find his kidnapped son. With only a few hints, Ross will make his best to solve the case.

You can watch the trailer here: https://vimeo.com/118026289
