What all do I need for a good gaming PC?

Here are my specs:

Motherboard- M3970AM-HP Angelica

Chipset- AMD 970

Processor- AMD FX-6100 3.3GHz 6 Core

Memory- 10 GB DDR3-1333

Graphics Card- Radeon HD 7450

Hard Drive- 1.5 TB Sata 3.0Gb/Sec

Power Supply- Internal 300W (100V-240V)

Operating System- Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

I know I need a new case, PSU, graphics card, motherboard, and CPU. Is there anything else I need to upgrade? I want to be able to run lets say Battlefield 4 on ultra settings. What in my computer can I salvage? I want to be able to get all I need for around $500 to $800. I'm really wanting an Intel i7, and Nvidia graphics card. Not AMD.

You can actually reuse that cpu, mobo, (if you want) also the memory, dvd HDD, etc just get a case psu and gpu for cheapest route. Believe it or not just by getting a new gpu psu and would bring massive difference even when with that FX 6100.

And you need a CPU that costs as much as a whole console because of bad ports, right?

For gaming an i5 does the same job.

i7 vs i5 is very minor for gaming your talking about single digit difference in fps. Since an i7 is basically an i5 with more cache and HT.

That FX6100 with the other upgrades will hold you over until Intel and or AMD release *new* products next year.

It also needs to red, because red makes everything faster.

Whats better to get lets say a CPU with 3.7GHz 4 core, or a 3.4GHz 6 core? Is the more cores the better? Not saying those are my options just saying which would be better.

That's really depends on what CPUs you're talking about.

All depends on what kind of cpus your comparing. If your comparing AMD quad at 3.7 vs AMD six core at 3.4 then the six core would be better because it has two more physical cores able to add nearly another 50% more processing power over that quad. The Clockrates help very little when your only comparing 300mhz with same brand and or architecture. Now if your comparing an intel quad vs AMD 6 core that's a different story, and an 4th gen i5 would beat the AMD 6 core
