Should I spend a hefty sum on the:

Asus PG278Q ROG Swift 27"

Or go for a cheaper, bigger option:

BenQ BL3200PT 32"

Acer B326HUL 32"

Samsung 32D850D 32"

Or any other suggestion? I don't know an awful lot about screen really. I'd rather have a 32" but am I sacrificing much by going with one of these?

You do realise you can get a 4k monitor for less money than those right?

None? for 500 pounds I'd take IPS monitor, nothing less.

Pick this one: BenQ

A) It's almost half the cost of yours screens

B) it's IPS

You do realize that a 4k monitor is not necessarily better, right?

This Qnix model is the cheapest option and OC'able to 120hz if your rig can push it. Dont have any experience with it but it has really good reviews, I'll be getting mine when I get paid again.

I own the Qnix oc'able model and it is great. But keep in mind that it's not guaranteed that you can oc it to 120hz.

Most people can get theirs to at the very least 90hz.

I leave mine at 60hz because I don't really care about ocing it.

It's a great monitor with outstanding colors but is very basic on connections with only a single Dual Link dvi port.

I got mine for 240USD. Now that I've experienced 1440p gaming I cannot go back to 1080p.

I have the Asus pb278q only 60hz. Awesome color good response time but damn I wish I had waited a year so I could have gotten the version you linked too so much nicer.

For a 4k you'll need more grunt. The swift is awesome you would not regret it. I have the swift so an in the best place to comment. Best monitor ever.

if moneys no big problem and your into fps games, go with the Asus PG278Q ROG Swift 27".

I have a IPS display but from what i read generally is TN is better response time for games like fps... only drawback is viewing angles on TN display can distort color quality unless your lined up right on the display.

So it depends on what your doing, if your really into fps games then for sure get that monitor, it has gsync also.

I find my 60hz IPS display works fine with all types of games, but i've never used a 120 or 144hz TN display so who knows, maybe im missing out. I don't notice any ghosting or anything on my IPS. Personally i probably would never get a TN display cause i can't stand it when i move a slight angle and the screen looks different.
