Wanting to know a little more about Pillars of Eternity...

I like old school action rpgs like Diablo. I have heard some good things about this game, but I am wanting to know just a little more. Is using the pause and plan feature needed? How complicated is the game? I like games like Path of Exile and Torchlight 2 and wondering if I know those games well how hard would it be to figure out Pillars of Eternity? I see you have to have 5 characters instead of just one?

I wish there was a demo some where, where I could try a game like this out.Thanks

Like Icewind Dale. dungeon strategy/RPG party based game. Not action RPG like Diablo or Torchlight, don't expect that. Totally different.

It is not much like Diablo, and pausing will likely be necessary at least at some points; you'll be controlling up to 6 characters after all. If you've played Baldur's Gate 1 or 2, Icewind Dale 1 or 2, or Planescape Torment, those are what the combat in PoE will be like, just with a different ruleset.
