Hey for those of you who use a controller for some of your games, how is it it? and does it really matter if I use a 360 controller, or can I use the PS3 controller that I already own?

Download the program called motionjoy, worked wonders for me with my ps3 controller :)

I usually use a gamepad hwnever the game is best played with one: 2D platformers, sports games, racing games - unless I have a wheel handy, etc.

The plus about the xbox 360 gamepad is that it's natively supported by windows and most games. Just plug and play. For the others, you need to use third party drivers, and it might require setting up the controls in game via the controls settings.

Yeah, I need to know too. I have Dark Souls but won't play it without a gamepad based on what I've read. But my 360 pad is wireless. Is there a certain sensor I should use and are they reliable? Or should I just bite the bullet and buy a wired controller?

oh wow I didn't even think of the fact that I would have to play wired. Yea unless motionjoy includes wireless functionality, then I might have to get a 360 controller.

The PS3 controller uses Bluetooth, so if your PC has a BT reciever then you don't require any additional hardware to pair it. You can also connect it up via USB.

The wired 360 controller works natively with Windows and doesn't require any additional hardware or software.

The wireless 360 controller works natively with Windows but requires one of these:

Both work great. The tradeoff is some people like the PS3 controller better while the 360 controller works out of the box with many games and requires no additional configuration or utilities. Personally, I think both controllers from an ergonomics standpoint are fine so I opt for the easier 360 controller.

Works fine, I use my 360 wired controller the most. Just plug it in and it works wonderfully for games I want a controller (Saints Row, NBA2k, Fifa, street fighter, Batman AC, AC).

Also have tried the ps3 one to, it works good aswell, but I prefer the 360 one slightly.

The 360 controller has more support since it's Microsoft anyway. I personally prefer the 360 controller to the PS3 controller.

Buy used dongle for x360. Generic $3 bluetooth for ds3 or connect wired with mini usb.

Great to see so many people comfortable with the gamepad + PC! I have a huge stock of Wired 360 controllers for PC use.

a game controller is like a doll or a barbie.

you should probably stick to console.

The 360 controller is easiest because since a lot of the games are made for 360 too, and it's the supported controller for GFWL, it gets the most support. Most controllers work fairly well though.

It good. Works as well as any controller focused game would on a console.

MS makes a 360 controller wireless dongle for PC. It works fine, but is expensive.
