So, I've been watching the prices of this 9590 and seen it drop down to 259.99 that is a score for people who want a flagship cpu for a budget price. Yes blah blah Intel is better blah blah but, the Intel flagship processor that has 8 cores finally....smh is a whopping 1000 dollars. By the way you have to upgrade your ram to ddr4 which is really expensive now. I'm hoping to get better performance from 8350 to 9590. I like Intel as much as the other guy but, dang their prices are enough to make a down payment on a car. Gtfo what is everyone else's thoughts on my upgrade? I'm sure the Intel boys will come out of the wood works.

Well going from a 8350 to 9590 is a short sighted upgrade if you want to call it an "upgrade" at all. The 9590 all it is, is basically a higher clocked 8350. Gaming you will only see 10-15% increase in fps at best, other types of workloads maybe 15-20% on average. Intel's cpu's are just plan faster then anything AMD can offer, intel's haswell cpu's are 2x faster clock per clock then AMD's Vishera's which is why i5's perform as well and in most cases much better then AMD's "eight cored " cpu's which really are not true eight cored cpu's.

I just recently upgraded from an AMD Phenom 2 X4 to an i5 4690k. When I was figuring out what to upgrade too, I could not think of wasting my money on an another AMD cpu since upto four threads my Phenom 2 performs as well as any FX. Now why spend money on a upgrade that isnt guaranteed to actually give me a noticeable performance boost over what I had before. So short answer is no its not a worth while upgrade, keep your 8350 until AMD's Zen or if intel releases 6-8 core cpu in the $300 range.

I hope you're not talking about gaming, better off with i5.

If you're into editing I do agree that AMD with their FX series offer better price/performance compared to intel's i7.

I wouldn't get the 9590, if you have water cooling you can get the same results as the 9590 with 8370 OC to 5Ghz. (could save about 80$)

The 9590 doesn't OC that well compared to the 8350 or 8370 modules.

EDIT: check out Cinebench scores http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/amd_fx8370__fx8370be/7.htm go to single core and multicore OC section - you'll see there's no increase in performance once their all OC.

You can check the other pages as well for Sandra and AIDA scores - there's no big change that worth spending 280$ on, better off save that money and get i7 4770K or 4790.

But if you're really dying for an upgrade without replacing the MOBO i'd say sell your 8350 and get 8370 - this is the best by far as close as you can get to 9590.

As far as the Intel claim why would I downgrade from 8 cores to 6 core on 4770k? That doesn't make sense yes the single threaded process is better than amd. I'm talking flagship processor not bottom of the barrel Intel. 5960x is flagship and its 1g the only processor Intel has to offer that is 8 cores.

Does that 9590 even come with a cooler? Because you might as well buy a water cooler and OC your 8350 to up to 5GHz. You'll get the same thing as 9590.

Doesn't make sense? you should see some behchmarks because the 4770K shredds the FX series

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-4770K-vs-AMD-FX-8350 another proof: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html 4770K ranked at 45th while the 8350 ranked at 97th place.

That's not a downgrade by any mean, on the contra - it's an upgrade, you may hate Intel but they do make better CPUs (the price is premium, again I agree on that)

EDIT: here's some reviews for you to think twice before stating a "downgrade": AnandTech , OverclockersClub

First of all i7 4770K is a 4core CPU with HT. Not 6-core. And 5930K is 6-core. 5960X is 8 core. But forget 5960X, AMD is close only in its half performance...

There are plenty of reasons to stay in your FX8350 or upgrade to i7 4770K, rather than go with the abysmal FX9590.

Intel Core i7 4770K (84W) - 4C/8T, 3.5 GHz, 1MB L2, 8MB L3 vs AMD FX-9590 (220W) - 4M/8T, 4.7 GHz, 8MB L2, 8MB L3

Also it doesn't cost only $260 cause AMD recommends water cooling.... So it will go over $300...

As you can see here too AMD FX-9590 Review; Piledriver at 5GHz, FX9590 competes with 4770K only in 8threaded scenarios in all other cases 4770K dominates.

Lately AMD admitted that Bulldozer is a failure architecture and decided to move on. They working at a new better architecture with the code name "Zen".

So if you want a new AMD CPU, at least stay in your FX8350 and wait for the new "Zen" CPU.

The 8350 is fine, you don't need any better for the time being, get a water cooler to overclock it to near 9590 levels, that will tide you over until Zen.

I have not come across any scenario yet were my 8350 has held me back.
