You don't need a 980 for Crysis

970/80 would be a huge bump. You'd notice either way. I'm rocking 2 970s. Not much more than 1 980...I crush every game. These cards are insane..even with just one.

As others already suggested, get a 970.

970 it is then, thanks all.

Only downside is my board doesn't do SLI , only does Crossfire, but I only ever rock 1 GPU anyway's , the thought of the electric bill with SLI scares me lol.

2x 290s.

I'm in a crysis , because I'm not sure if i should upgrade to a 980 Nvidia card or not while i can, first world problems I know *rolls eyes*.

Thing is I don't really need it for anything i own, i'm an easily satisfied PC gamer , if i can get by and play at least 1080p 30 - 60 fps ill keep it xD, still rocking 5870 which runs Wolfenstien very very well on medium full HD at 60fps.

What to do ? , might spend cash on something more practical like shoes ..... *yawn* ... dunno ...

I wouldn't bother. Why not save your money.

^ unless u wanna throw away couple hundred more dollars on 980 then go for that. u can overclock the 970 to match a 980 easily. And either a 970 or 980 are just placeholder cards till a single card can do 4k solo. Thats what im doing, basically holding out with my 970 till they make a single card do 4k then ill get a 4k monitor.

If moneys no object maybe wait a bit for the 980ti, it'll be really expensive and no doubt more performance difference then comparing a 980 to a 970.

At most even the most overclocked 970's do not use over 165 watts by comparison last gens cards like the 780 and 290 use around 250 watts, you can sli 970s on a 600w bronze power supply comfortably, no need to be scared :P

You will be holding out for a while then. 4K@60fps isn't even doable with 2 cards on demanding games. To expect that level of performance with a single GPU is still a ways off. Also, games will become more demanding in the next little while. So yeah... single GPU 4K@60fps is just a dream at this point in time.

I got a 980 because I have 3x2560x1440 that I game on, at 1x1920x1080 a 970 will be more than enough. For games that I only use one monitor there is no problem whatsoever and the 980 is only like 5-10% better than the 970 but 2560x1440 is way bigger than 1920x1080
