Hi, I have been using my Twin Frozr II 560 Ti for a year and a half, and have been happy with the performance. Now I can find used 560 Ti on ebay for less than £100, so I was thinking of SLI'ing.

On the other hand, I plan to upgrade to Haswell later this year , so I can forget the SLI, save the £100 towards a future GPU along with Haswell, possibly Titan/GTX 770?

Another point being that 560 Ti only has 1 GB memory, so I don't see this SLI setup being future proof, so I am better of buying a single GPU later on along with the CPU upgrade. Opinions?

I wouldn't. Vram is only 1GB. Besides, the 560Ti should be able to play most games at high to max settings. Just overclock the GPU for now. Buy a GTX 670 if you can't wait for 700 series.

Oh I can wait for sure, It is pre-overclocked. Just thought that spending £100 isn't that big of a deal, but wanted to hear if it is worth spending. Guess not.

More like high. Even my gtx 680 doesn't give a playable FPS at max settings in several games.

I max some settings, some I can live without being maxed.

I've always been a strong advocate for single GPU's over SLI/Crossfire configurations, especially on single monitor set-ups. There are just too many drawbacks to multi-card solutions.

Likewise. In everyday gaming I can not tell the difference between having Sleeping Dogs at extreme and at the custom setting I currently got. Took AA down a notch or two, plus put shadows on normal instead of high I think. 60FPS no problem anymore!

My mate has just gone SLI on his 560TI and he seems happy with it. He's gone 3D/120Hz too.

Edit: Also I was in your position back in March last year, 560TI SLI or 680 was my choice.

Sold my 560TI to my mate cuz I didn't like the idea of SLI and went with the 680, lol.

The problem with SLI is its hit and miss. When it works its great, but when it doesn't it sucks.

Get a new card, that 1GB VRAM will bottleneck you in the future.

No. Don't SLI. You have a mid-range older generation card. I wouldn't recommended SLI when your card is about to be 2 generations old. If you had a GTX 580, yeah sure go ahead and SLI but not on a mid-range older card this far into the newer generation.

Save up for the 8xxx/7xx series cards. I would only do SLI on mid-range cards when they are still in their current generation or early next-gen.

Although I am not going to SLI, question is why not on a mid range, but on 580 would have been fine? It seems to scale pretty well to me from benchmarks, granted at this point VRAM is too low.

Because a GTX 580 is still pretty good now a days. Adding another will be just fine. On the other hand, a 560Ti was mid-range. SLIing won't last as long.

Heck I am mostly happy with the single performance, SLI thought occurred since they seem to be rather cheap.

Although 560TI SLI is a tiny bit better than 680 performance only with a Vram bottleneck.

I would mainly suggest SLI if there aren't any faster single GPUs to upgrade to. If you had a 670 or 680 I would say go for it. But in your shoes I would suggest waiting for 7xx cards to hit.

Heh, If I had a 670 or 680, The thought of SLI won't even cross me on a single monitor! That would be pretty pointless to me. :P

I play on a single display (HDTV), and buying my 2nd 680 is one of the best decisions I've ever made as a gamer.

And, yeah, pretty far from pointless:

I've read a lot about multi GPU issues, the worst of which is micro stuttering. Stuttering is something the drives me nuts in games, I would no be able to deal with that. I wouldnt add another card in your position simply because of the 1gb of vram. Games out now are already utilizing over 1GB with extras enabled, so I imagine it will bottleneck you in the future. I would go with a single card solution with at least 2gb and double up later if you need the boost.

People already need to SLI 680s to play decently? But I said pointless to me! I am the kind of person that plays on decent framerates, and don't mind if every single option isn't maxed, i.e. shadows. Rarely do games make good use of shadows, where going from med/ high to ultra is worth it.

To stay at 60FPS or higher on max settings and high res like 2560x1440-2560x1600 along with triple monitor res SLI is needed yo!
