Thief, poor fps when looking at guards at point blank...

Don't know if anyone else is getting this, but i get a steady 60fps with maxed settings on my gtx 780 and core i7 and i found that when i'm practically ontop of a guard or am looking at the body of a dead one my fps absolutely tanks. i'm guessing this is some kind of bug, but its annoying

Thief is riddled with performance issues and bugs across every platform. It's just a very poorly made game.

Umm, the 670 is more powerful than a 760....

...no. The first digit is what series it is, the second digit is what level perforance it is. A 7 is a higher end chip, 6 is mid range. A 690 is going to out perform a 770

Like I laid out, follow the digit pattern. A 760 for example is part of the 700 series and ranks a 6 in power, essentially. A 780 obviously would beat it, but so would the 680. 8s are usually flagship top end parts. 6s are decently powered midrange chips. 5s and lower are lower end. 9s, like the 690 and 590 are usually dual chip cards and cost a fortune

IDK, I'm running an old i7 960 and a GTX 580 at 1920x1600 with no problems. Same goes for BF4 and FarCry.

While this is mostly true, it is not always the case. The GTX 770 is a bit faster than the GTX 680 as seen in the links below:

I stronly recommend doing some research before buying just to validate and make sure to get the best performance as the numbers are no longer exact indicators of the performance.

Im running every thing on high an it runs smooth no bugs at all..Ive got a i7 6800k with a 670 gtx nvidea..Every thing on high with a water cooling system..Games smooth to me..Graphics are cool lookin an game is fun..

@wis3boi: In that case, is there any difference between the 670 and 770?

Running a 690 and an i7 980x and I haven't noticed that bug. My fps drops a lot when I exit the clock tower for a minute or so.

My rule of thumb in cases like this where the middle digit is the same is that the newer one is faster, but...you never know. Sometimes there are oddballs in the pack. AMD's 5900s often were found in top benchmarks year after year for example.

Best go to the benchmarks for this, and reports here show an average 16% increase in the 770 over the 670
