They can ask for money, doesn't mean they're all good, just like anything. As for FF14 as a game, players say it became better already, that it's actually an enjoyable game now, I don't know what players of Asian MMOs would find enjoyable except the grind, but if it were a free to play MMO it wouldn't go from terrible to pretty enjoyable in such a short amount of time, but anyway, a good MMO will always cost money to play and there will always be bad games in any genre.

Nah it won't flop. It already has 1.5 million preorders + and it has Bioware behind it. It also carries the Star Wars name which is a bonus. Also i'm a beta tester and after playing it? No way In hell it will flop.
No one is claiming the sub fee is pointless because it's not. It's the same as every other decent MMO. (GW aside)

Let me repeat, the developers have stated on numerous occasions that the game will be switched back to a subscription model. Until then, you still have to buy the box which comes no where close to being F2P. If anything, you should liken it more to Guild Wars: Buy to Play (B2P).

yeah, I was being a bit sarcastic. I believe it'll be able to hold it's own. Won't be killing wow or anything, but it'll definitely hold it's own.

Guild Wars and the upcoming GW2 won't have monthly fees. GW is not a MMO and it depends on how restrictive GW 2 is with the MMO elements, before pairing it with games like WoW, EVE, SW: TOR, etc.
