This game has left early access, I'm curious as to your opinions on this title, from the description, it sounds very appealing.

Well I hope it's been improved since the alpha or beta or whatever it was.

@uninspiredcup: This is like the third topic on this title.

The game seems neat but I haven't had a chance to try the latest build. The EA version lacked the story campaign and was just a big sandbox. Gameplay was fun but not really geared towards the sim crowd, so it controlled very well with KB/mouse.

Wouldn't say the game is out officialy as they say it is, it's like games being released on alpha or beta stage like Rust or something like that, the reason is this:

Some graphics options are not available but do exist and may be inteded to be on the game after some patches:

  • Shadow Quality is off - can't change it
  • Refresh Rate - N/A
  • Bloom - can't check V on the box
  • Model Detail - set to high, can't change it
  • Post Processing - can't check V on the box
  • LOD Distance - N/A

Will get back at you with more impressions about the game.

EDIT: ambient soundtrack is good, I expect that to be this way from a space game - reminds me Eve Online =)

The game runs about 40fps on my rig.

What's a "qeastion"?

I'm installing it now and will post back with impressions shortly.

Okay, so I had a chance to play around with it a bit.

The game plays like a cross between Independence War and Freelancer. Emphasis is on ships that are a bit bigger than a tiny dogfighter (i.e. Independence War) while the overall control is a bit arcade-y. Pilot skills work kind of like powerups and buffs, so again a little bit more like an arcade space flight game and less like a sim. It's also designed from the ground up for KB/Mouse control but they added Gamepad and Joystick support for the final release, although I wouldn't expect it to support something like a HOTAS setup. The camera is third person only, but there are multiple 3rd persion views you can alternate between.

The depth feels much more complex than Freelancer did, which was overall pretty simplistic. The faction reputation system has a ton of bars that I don't yet fully understand and it looks like there are eventually a ton of ship customization options.

Campaign mode was absent from EA but is here now. It plays out through simple cutscenes and voice acted communications that play out in flight.

Short answer is it's not in the same league as Star Citizen or Elite Dangerous, but it's a fun little space sandbox and it looks to be a lot deeper than your average Privateer clone.

Ah. An excellent and well written out post. Thank you for taking the time and effort. From the information received it appears to be of questionable quality.

It's a very indie game and the lack of a AAA budget shows. I'd say it's leaps and bounds above the abomination that is X Rebirth but for now I'm going to keep spending all my extra time playing Elite Dangerous even in its unfinished state.
