Who else really, really, really, wants to see this gametype for new mmorpgs. They could go with the flow, take for example a basketball mmorpg (less players needed, the better) There could be coaches, players, referees and even mascots. Everything would be based on the community and you would be higher up on the ladder (majors) if you were a better player (for the actual players) a fairer person (referee) a stratigical person (coach) or even a 10 year old ADDish kid (mascot). See it all fits. There could be multiple leagues of players and they would basically represent the levels in a middle of the lane fantasy type MMO. To further explain an above point, the less players needed is a easier game to make due to matches (raid, instances) and everything. I guess you could do 6v6s for European and American football and maybe even 6v6 for baseball. Keep in mind, these games wouldnt revolve around just playing the sport, it would have all the other things related to it so there is room for Agents, GMs, reporters and everything else that goes on off the court. Off the court players could own homes, cars, and whatever other creative things developers could think of.
Basically, fantasy MMORPGS are getting boring! Please extend the market into other gametypes and more innovative gameplay!
the point is that its not just a game, its the life of a player. It includes much more than just playing the sport like how fantasy games have much more than fighting in them. we really need different mmos besides the regular fantasy release monthly.
Fantasy rpgs are getting boring? Are you slow? What are you gonna do ina sports rpg? Lvl up and buy new cleats with +3 sprinting power? Just got buy madden and play on live.
You obviously have never played any sports games online, because what you described is basically how it already works. An MMO version of any sports game would just be idiotic and boring, especially considering that nobody ever ever want to play as a referee....or a mascot for that matter.
