Yes I know, only one day, but I think that was enough. After update 1 I wanted to give Win8 another shot (the first time I tried it, it was only for about 30 minutes over a year ago), I borrowed my moms Win8 laptop. I am going to be honest, Windows 8 is actually better than Windows 7 in every conceivable way. MS has definitely improved it a ton, and now it's a great OS. I've warmed up to the start screen, it really is nice and functional, and easy to find and start applications. I'll be replacing 7 with 8 when I get the chance too.

Still not letting go of Linux though :P

I still hate Metro. The Win 8 desktop is adequate enough for my needs though. If I do assemble a new PC, it'll have 8.1 on it.

As long as those AOL boxes/tiles exist I wont be joining the club. I hate modern UI's and windows 8 brings all the stupid shit I hate from cellphone UI's down to the color, setup, and look and I'm not down for that. Hell even the new start button they are showing off for the new update still has those damn box/tiles. I'll stick with 7, till I see how 9 turns out, and if linux will take its place as my operating system.

I've been saying this for months haven't I? lol.....

It's improved massively with 8.1, and now with Update 1 even more.

All the hate is just plain stubborn people that don't like change. If you have a PC with 7 on it, no need to upgrade. If you go for a new build or due for a reinstall, then Win8 is a good OS to put on there.

OFFTOPIC: did u get my message about the Ubuntu Phone?

@FelipeInside: I just got it thanks.

A lot of it had to do with what you've been saying about it, and wanted to know if you really knew what you were talking about lol.

I used it a little on my laptop and wasn't a big fan. I replaced my mobo recently and got 8 Pro with it, updated it to 8.1 and am actually starting to like it. I still love 7 though.

i would still prefer a proper start menu (that concept one in another thread about update 1 was a nice idea) and have windows apps more seamlessly integrated into the desktop (like widgets in KDE or android).

but its not enough to make me go to windows 7 or pay extra for windows 7 pro so i can access more ram (which is why my laptop has 8.1). i dont see the metro interface enough to really care and on the rare occasion i do need to use it its brief.
