Some nice PC's here but also a lot of dusty messy ones! Cable Management People!

Not so important for everyone. I don't have a window on my case so there is no way to tell as long as the side panel is on.

@horgen I got some new toys. Sure they aren't the same brand, but meh lol. Got a nice deal, so I don't care honestly. :P
This a game room I set up, and its a bit messy so excuse it. :P

The acer is a 22 or 23 I think and the HP and dell are 24 inch. That explains why I'm using a ps2 case lol to line it up.
I still have a slot for a fourth monitor via hdmi.

#1454 Posted by Horgen (110462 posts) -

@kitty: Personally thinking of skipping my current dual monitor and get something like this instead... LG version or the AOC version... Those are 3440 * 1440 34' monitors... Rumours that Dell will release one as well in the Ultrasharp series.

I'm thinking about setting my current Asus on top maybe. So I'll 3440* 1440 with 1920*1200 above it... Or drop the last one completely. :P

#1455 Posted by kitty (114950 posts) -

@horgen the LG page links to goldenelements score :P But the AOC monitor looks very nice. I can't bring myself to get another AOC monitor. I have a really nice one here that I only got two weeks of use from. It's a 1080 monitor. But I got flickering the entire two weeks and then the screen changed to a greenish color and that was it, there's nothing I can do to fix it.
That said if you do get an AOC one, please tell me how it is. I really like the design/look of their monitors.

I want to go with just one and get a 2560 x 1440. I got the dell and Acer for $30 each though, so I'm not complaining.
I can get games to run quite well at the 5760 x 1080 resolution. Except for skyrim with my current enb :P

Thought I'd try something out.

Before 2560x1440 Korean

After, a 50" Panny Viera I had lying around (as you do...)

Might be too big....

Look up LG 34UM95P...

I do wonder what problems I will run into if I have a single 3440*1440 monitor though... Now I mean technical difficulties like HDMI unable to deliver 60Hz at that res, not how much GPU power required to run games at max with a stable 60fps.

Crossfire 290s...

#1460 Posted by Klunt_Bumskrint (4313 posts) -

@insane_metalist: What do you prefer, 290's or 780's

#1461 Edited by insane_metalist (6647 posts) -

@klunt_bumskrint: Two 780 Ti's that I had, I just sold to a friend of mine. As of right now I am liking 290s. Drivers have gotten much better and they now scale better then TI's in SLI. Also, let's look at the price.. you can get two brand new 290s for $760 while two 780 Ti's are $1400. I am also sticking with 290s because of vram, I plan on getting a 4K monitor in the near future so that's gonna help out. Also, Mantle plays somewhat of a role. 780 Ti's were scoring 21K (3DMark11 w/ 4770K) while two 290s score 20K. Overall I am happy with the current build and plan on keeping them for quiet sometime. Only thing that I don't like about 290s is they run HOT!! Although after reapplying good thermal paste temps dropped by around 5C. How are you liking them 780s? I saw your benchmarks in past and you were getting really nice scores. You OC your 780s?

#1462 Edited by Klunt_Bumskrint (4313 posts) -

@insane_metalist: love my 780's. Day to day I run them at 941MHz on a custom bios, when benching I run at 1320. Might replace them soon though.

That's wussup mang! I do admit though those EVGA 780 Ti's were really solid, quiet and cool. I am assuming, you're looking forward to GTX 880?
BTW, I'm messing around with 290s OC and am getting almost same benchmark results. I am pretty sure they're even with 780 Ti's. Reason score is a bit lower because it's too hot here right now so had to downclock CPU to 4.1GHz.
2-Way SLI SC EVGA GTX 780 Ti's (CPU @ 4.2GHz)

Crossfire R9 290s (CPU @ 4.1GHz)

Very happy with the results, I am still gonna mess around with 290s some more.

@insane_metalist: I beat your Ti's :)

Not sure about the 880 yet. Thinking of getting 1 Titan black to hold me over for a while with my new X99 build

I figured you did, I didn't OC them. But I am surprised with 290s results. Titan Black? I am thinking, you are on a same page... VRAM! I would have kept my Ti's if they were 4GB. I am feeling pretty safe with 4GB for now.. hoping they will last a few years without issues. I was very close to buying SC EVGA GTX 780 - 6GB. You could sell your 780s and get two 6GB versions, you would be set for a while!

#1466 Posted by Klunt_Bumskrint (4313 posts) -

@insane_metalist: We'll have to see. If my PC sells as a whole or whether I just sell the MB, CPU and Ram.

@insane_metalist: Wrong thread, post it in the benchthread and I'll update your scores :P

Since you and Klunt go on and on about your 780's/R9 290's, I'll post what I am saving money for: 34' 3440*1440 21:9 monitor which is curved... Though if the price is to high, the none curved version works as well... Oh and Dell is supposed to release one as well.

Very nice. :) I want a tri-x 290 so bad. I knows yours a 290x, but you'll have to tell us how she performs.

My two cards together pretty much equal a 290, but I want the vram and performance without having to depend on crossfire. I mean I could crossfire the 290, but then that would be equal to 4 of my current cards. :P

Hey, sorry for not getting back about how she performs. Been really busy, lol.

She's great, runs games really well. Very happy. But took a while to get used to how Catalyst works when it comes to tweaking things.

@insane_metalist: Looks good man. I tried installing mine today, 2 Powercolor R9 290X. Thing is the second GPU isn't recognized by the mobo and the OS. I've been going nuts all day. Disregard my Sig as its pretty old. My current mobo is an Asus Maximus V Gene.

Here's the link of my GPUs

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-131-568

Trying to troubleshoot is a pain in the ass because of the loop. Anyways any tips would be awesome.

Thanks!

When I had my 780 TI's, I had to go to Device Manager, Display Adapters, click Update Driver Software on second GPU (cuz it wasn't recognizable ) and then it was all good. Make sure you Enable Crossfire and then reboot.

I keep running out of space on my SSD so I just bought two Crucial MX100 512GB's.

Hope new GPUs come out soon, I'm kinda bored of the 780 Ti.

Upgraded my ebay laptop, I'll post pics later. I added 4GB more ram and replaced the DVD drive with the HDD and put in a SSD.

HP Probook 6360b 13.3"

i5 2410M

4GB 8GB RAM

250GB HDD + 250GB SSD (840 EVO)

Win 7 ultimate + OSX Mavericks dual boot

Total cost for a portable well built hackintosh with (now) good parts: £350

#1481 Posted by robertoenrique (1161 posts) -

@insane_metalist: thanks for the response. It's all good now, I took both of them out, made sure they were correctly inserted and on reboot they both showed up. I'll post some pics later on. With my cpu at stock I'm hitting 17K on 3dmark 11 so not too shabby. Anyways I'm ready for 4K gaming now :)

#1482 Edited by insane_metalist (6647 posts) -

@robertoenrique: No porblem mang. I just added a sound card (Creative Sound Blaster Z & Pioneer Blu-Ray Drive). Everything sounds cripy clear now and can't even turn my volume past 25%.. otherwise my neighborhood is gonna be here to shoot me.

@AdamK47: My goodness.... please tell me you get average of over 60 FPS gaming at 4k with ultra settings in most (if not all) games. I'm looking at getting the 5930k with 3-way 290x and MSI's Gaming 7.

Damn. I was hoping to be the first here with the 5960X... I wanted jump into the top spot in the benchmark thread for at least a little while. Oh well.

And all I can do is laugh at the 4 1TB SSD's. You're in another league.

@thehig1: I've been using the M65 for a while. I don't ever use the sniper button, but I wanted blue, not red so... The mouse is awesome. Great build quality and fairly comfortable. I have medium sized hands and use a palm grip. It's a bit bigger than I was used to, but aside from that and issues with the software it's a great mouse.
