Replacement video card.

Long story short my EVGA GTX 780ti Superclocked lost a fan while I was playing BF4 today. Now I need a new one. Amazon is refunding me the entirety of what I paid so I do plan on getting another 780ti, I'm just not sure which. What do you guys think about the KINGPIN edition? Worth the extra money? Just get the same one I had before?

I heard the KINGPIN ones OC very well. That is if you are into that.

With the money? buy GTX780 or R9 290 and live a long happy life =)

I agree with @kitty. If you plan to OC then KINGPIN Edition is really nice.

If you don't plan to o/c, I don't think that 70mhz worth $100 more...

That's why I don't buy non reference. I have found the reference design fans always last much longer than aftermarket.

I'd just get a 780ti stock card.

I've always like asus direct cu II best. Coolest, most quiet, most durable and most overclocking room

@airshocker: If there is not a time limit on when you have to use the funds, then I would put off your purchase. There is a lot of indication that NV is set to release a couple 8xxx series cards in Oct. or Nov. They might have something faster the the 780ti, or you might see a price cut on current cards. That is if you do not mind the wait...

@stizzal13: Only problem is that I'm not willing to go without video gaming for the next few months just to get an 800 series card.

Understandable, then I would go with @PredatorRules advice. Especially, if you are on a single monitor 1080p 60 fps setup. Save the difference or use it to upgrade other areas of your rig.

Otherwise replace with a reference 780ti or the Kingpin

I did just upgrade the rest of my rig, which was actually how I noticed the fan had come off of my video card. Hmm, I'll have to think about it a bit.

Get IPS monitor if you don't own one already, yes the ms is "bad", I game on 5ms and that's what IPS panels offer which is not THAT bad, you just need to get used to it if you're currently game on 1-2ms screen. (took me 3 days)

I'm talking about don't get 780ti, get 780 or 290 instead and an IPS monitor if you don't own one.

I already have an IPS monitor. There's really no point in me going back a step on the card. I already had a 780ti, might as well get another one.

Ok, so here's a smarter choice IMO 2x 290 or 2x 780, just don't get the ti or the X versions they not worth the extra money, you can always OC them.

Single card solutions have always been more stable for me than SLI or Crossfire. I had two 6850s when BF3 came out and they basically refused to run the game without blue screening after awhile. So I'm extremely skeptical when it comes to using two video cards.

SLI and Cross are better these days, unless some game dev thought a 2nd GPU wouldn't benefit at all (I've seen a couple of games where you get no gain what so ever from the 2nd GPU, I mean if you have the money for more power why not letting it? right?)

I recommend that one too. Mine was an awful clocker but the build quality and cooler are very good.

Would not expect anything less from airshocker, You know exactly what to get and what you are going to get. You just needed to post it here to boost your Epens. You have a good card no one is impressed.

Ive ran 8800GT's in SLI for years and a buddy of mine is running GTX 670's in SLI. SLI is quite stable and rarely causes any major issues. Now Crossfire on the other had was a mess until earlier this year but still has a few issues AMD is working out the bugs with frame timing.I see both point of views but....

Even if SLI did cause an issue disabling it is a snap, and with two 780's you wouldnt be losing anything much over a single 780ti and with it enabled you gain much more then what a 780ti could do.

I get it, everyone has their own experiences with using two video cards. Mine haven't been good. My fear is that I'll buy two video cards, pay a little bit more than a single card(if I go the 2x 780 Superclocked route) eventually I'm going to run into games that don't support SLI and that second card is useless. Or I'll get stability issues like I have before.

Nah there is no 290X that can compete with a factory o/ced 780ti.
