Very nice, man! Some awesome hardware you've got right there.

Now let's see some benches! :D

Hmm, Guru3D got 500 more points than me with a lower clock. They also used a slower CPU. Driver issues maybe?

here is mine, haven't done any of my own overclocking on the cards yet though.

Every time you post new pictures it makes me want to get back inside my machine and see if I can clean it up. Did you lay foam rubber or something on the bottom? Who makes that monitor and your fans with the white rings? How did you manage to hide the cables going to your drives? Sorry for all the questions...

#1261 Posted by MuD3 (1288 posts) -

it's sound dampening foam. i just put it down to cover up all the little holes and things left over from stuff i removed from the case and give it a bit of a cleaner look.

the monitor is an asus ve258q

the fans are corsairs latest fans, they come with three different colored rings you can swap out.

the HDD is in backwards and the cables are going threw the drive bay opening in the sides. the optical drive, cold cathode, io, and fan controller wires are all going out a hole in the top of the drive bay, that i think was meant for routing cables through.

#1263 Posted by Amster_G (4290 posts) -

I really wish I could take those hard drive bays out and place both the SSD and HDD elsewhere to empty out the case a little bit in order to get a cleaner look, but look at this...

It's just impossible to run the 24-pin, SATA cables and power connectos elsewhere without potentially breaking something. Without thoe hard drive bays in place, you'd be looking at an ugly mess of cables. I can't have that! :(

#1264 Posted by PernicioEnigma (5390 posts) -

Here are some pictures of my computer - Sorry for the poor quality, all I had was my phone for taking photos...

SPECS:

CPU: i7 3930K @ 4.5GHZ (getting it stable at this speed was easy, perhaps too easy...)

GPU: 2X GTX 670

RAM: 16gb Corsair Dominator GT 2133MHZ

Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Extreme

Case: Corsair Obsidian 800D

PSU: Corsair AX 1200

Haha, the right side of my case does bulge out a bit, but I think what saved me was the fact most of my power cables are long enough to not need an extension (with the exception of the 8 pin CPU power cable). The 800D is absolutely massive and can fit pretty much any build in it. It weighs a ton though so moving it around can be a hassle.

it's do able. took me a few trys to get everything out from behind the hdd cadies after i took them out. those extensions aren't helping your cause either. would save a ton of room if you did some proper sleeving instead.

here was mine when i had the cables behind the motherboard try instead of infront:

DSCF0033.jpg

granted, this is after i sleeved everything and made my own cables to custom lengths. but i manged to pull off the same before all that... just no photos then.

#1268 Posted by Amster_G (4290 posts) -

Very interesting. Though, I wouldn't trust myself with the custom sleeving. I mean, it is hard? How much work is it?

The reason the 800D appealed to me is because of this area;

35kpcv5.jpg

With some sort of custom cover right there, you could hide some cable in there. I don't think I would actually buy the 800D just for that, though. I mean, I'm very happy with my current rig/cable management. I just wish I could change a few things. It's nothing important. It'll just make the system look even cleaner.

#1269 Posted by MuD3 (1288 posts) -
it's not hard. this is my first pc build and i did it without problems.... just know what you're getting into before hand, and have the tools you need. i would definitely suggest para cord sleeving though. i think it's easier (tried a bit of the plastic type stuff and it was kind of a pain but still not that difficult) way cheaper, i think it looks way better, and you don't need to use any ugly heat shrink.
#1270 Posted by Amster_G (4290 posts) -

I just watched a guide on YouTube. Seems pretty labor intensive, even for just one singular cord! :P

I'll post some of my pc specifically if I ever decide to be productive and actually do some cable management.

lol so much dust on the PSU, i just redid my cable management, and accidently broke some pins somehow on my usb 3.0 cable, hope theres a way i can replace the ports since the cable was attached directly too them

Thanks! I actually got all the sound equipment for $50 at an old couple's yard sale, they paid $900 for it in 2002. I have four unused speakers for it hiding under my bed I don't have room for.:P

Why? I bought a PC to play games on it, not to look at it. My 300 Illusion keeps all of my components perfectly cool. I would love a Corsair 650D, but $180 is way too much just for a style upgrade.
#1280 Posted by MuD3 (1288 posts) -
it's a lot more than a style upgrade, all the little features you think you don't need are very very nice to have and worth the premium imo

Like what features? It would be great to have a cable management system, but it's not worth $180.
#1283 Posted by MuD3 (1288 posts) -

the wire management as you said

the sideways HDD bays

the fact that you can remove the bays all together, or just one of them, or just move them around to the position you want

screwless everything, and thumb screws for the expansion slots

huge cut out in the motherboard tray

built in fan controller

built in jumper bay

easy to remove side panels

you clearly don't care about aesthetics but i do and the cable management and case design alone make it worth it, as well as the removable HDD bays.
i'm also constantly doing stuff to mine so the cut out, side panels and screwless everything makes it very much worth it also.

#1284 Posted by WWIAB (4352 posts) -
I like accessible motherboard rears, it was something I never thought about until I realized I needed it and I was glad to have it But if you are happy with it as it currently is, then cool, I just thought some nice high end parts that you have would look great in a stylish home

I completely agree, I just don't have the money to invest in something I don't really need at the moment. Sometime in the future I'll get a new case, but for now everything works perfectly.

It maxed most of the games I own, but it struggled on higher settings in games like Metro 2033, Crysis 2, and Sleeping Dogs.I just wanted more power and a card that will last me for a while.
#1290 Posted by Horgen (110153 posts) -
Doesn't all games struggle with Metro 2033? I somehow doubt my GTX 680 will max it at 1920*1200. The 2GB VRAM might be the limit there though, I don't know.

itll be able to max metro 2033, but there will be some parts where itll drop to the low 20s

All single gpus you mean, it takes 3 or 4 gpus to never get below 30FPS, ROFL. 1200p isn't bad for 2GB VRAM, but forget going above that.
