[QUOTE="EarnMyRespect"]This baby isn't even a week old. Sorry for the "meh" pics.. [...] Specs are in my sig.

My friend, DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU'VE DONE? You've paired arguably the BEST X58 motherboard with one of the BEST Core i7 processors with one of the BEST DDR3 ram kits with one of the BEST video cards with one of the BEST sound cards with one of the BEST hard drives and you are using a STOCK heatsink? Do you hear that? That's the sound of your i7 crying....Yes, it's crying. It's sitting underneath that heatsink with tears in it's pins. On a serious note, 10/10. That build is absolutely amazing. Definitely one of the nicest rigs on this board. Props. And I see you've got the Haupaugee PVR and the exact same keyboard and mouse as me. I'm officially jealous.
#205 Posted by GTR2addict (11863 posts) -
@Earnmyrespect you will have absolutely no respect until you get that crap heatsink off and overclock that i7 to 4+ GHz
#206 Posted by RFOMownage (543 posts) -

Lose the stock cooler for sure.

#207 Posted by EarnMyRespect (306 posts) -
lol.. Yeah I know about the stock fan. I had practically no money left over from this rig.. I figured I could last a while with the stock. I will be getting a new one by the end of the next month. No worries. Im not doing anything extremely serious with this PC just yet. But thanks.

NO. No. No. No. 3.6GHz will not due and the Dark Knight can;t keep temps down low enough for 4.0GHz... Get the Noctua Heatsink and drop the voltage on the CPU to 1.2125 and push her to 4.0GHz and have a system stable at 39C temps idle. :)

The noctua is worse than the Xiggy. roughly 4C, no matter what the fan, not to mention, the noctua costs twice the xiggy.

You're both wrong. The Mugen-2 will wipe the floor off both of them!! (I remember on Newegg when it was $32 FS :D )

He doesn't want to squeeze it... He clearly stated that by buying that overpriced chip, as if he was a great overclocker he would have bought 920. Also, you've gone overkill on RAM, CPU, graphics card (you could've gotten 5850 which would've blown that away for the similar price)... I give that rig 1/10 for decisions you made and 9/10 for raw performance (I7 975 and you'd get 10/10).

Couldnt get the 5850 anywhere. If I wanted to, I'd have to wait a month.. I didn't want to wait a month. Besides, not exactly doing any hardcore gaming for a while.. Fair enough on the comments. Thanks.

Oh Slig0. :D Your build is fine, the processor is damn expensive but it's a beast. The GTX285 has great driver support and can hold its own against the 5850 and the 5870. You have easily one of the nicest computers on this site.

i think the OS is not working properly. i get a blue screen then my computer restarts. and it will keep doing that. when i go in safe mode it says that windows needs to be installed to go into safe mode. i should be getting the reinstall CDs soon. hopefully that will fix it.

The fact that it is an alienware takes that away, non the less it IS one hell of a machine also @titanium, IT WORKED WOOOOOOOOOT raised the vcore a bit more, and enabled it, and now its perfectly stable with temperatures right in check :D
