why? so you can claim to have the biggest virtual dick?

the 970 is more than capable of running anything out now or the near future fully maxed. why anyone would want to spend 3x more is just beyond me.

At 1080P, some people like to run their games at a higher rez with higher FPS. People who like high refresh rates and high resolutions are going to be putting their monitors to waste with a single 970/980.

People have different standards. if you only want to play at 1080p 60fps... sure the 970 is a good card. However, if you want to play at 4K 60fps, it is a different story. I play on ROG Swift which is 1440p 144hz. I can tell you a single 970 does not cut it. That is why I have 970 SLI. Pretty graphics and high frame-rate come at a price.

Don't even care for cards that cost over a $1000. Plus, who would even need 12GB..?

Wow, we just bit the bullet for 2 GTX970 strix for each of our rigs. 4gb versions will be fine to max anything at 1080p 60fps for a while. We know we will be upgrading in about a year, and a half as we are waiting on high Vram Pascal cards.

Wish we had 2016 GPU power today. Just feels like we are taking far to long... To get to a GPU that will be, "the be all end all" for 1080. Especially with all these newer games running like crap.

New games running like crap is because of bad ports.

$1000 plus price tag: LOL.
