Hey Guys,

So I'm wanting to get a good quality mouse that will do well with both gaming, and photoshop, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

I really wanted a Sidewinder X8, as having read reviews it looks perfect for me, but since it was discontinued it seems impossible to find any around. I would prefer a wired mouse, under 70 British Pounds (110$).

Also, preferably nothing by Razer, as not a massive fan of them, but still open to all suggestions anyway.

I would appreciate any advice, cheers guys :)

Well, I just recently got the rat 7 gaming mouse. The first one I received was all kinds of messed up, but I suspect it might have been one that was returned to begin with.

The replacement I was sent works great. http://www.amazon.com/Mad-Catz-R-A-T-7-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B0095D1CM8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1358763048&sr=8-2&keywords=rat+7

That said, I asked the same question before I picked it, and got probably 10 different suggestions. Take a look at everything people recommend and pick the one that focuses more on what you consider important.

Definitely the most important criteria when choosing a mouse, which one looks prettier.

The only way to find a mouse you like is to try as many as possible.

Do yourself a flavor and get a logitech mx518 ;) Had mine for a year now. If it broke; I'd probably buy another one; love it.

I recommend G500 instead, my middle mouse wheel broke after using my MX518 extensively and Logitech sent me a G500 no question asked. Their tech support is pretty nice.

Can't go wrong with G500. And RATs are known for issues.

Tablets are brilliant, but on my current budget I can only afford either a decent mouse or a mediocre tablet (and currently have a rubbish mouse and a rubbish tablet); and thus mouse wins hands down as it has more uses: I can happily use a mouse within Unreal Development Kit, 3DS Max, and games, where I would struggle with a tablet.

But yes, a decent tablet will be bought at some stage too.

That is my current mouse, it was ok, but is now a bit faulty, it often skips/hangs, and the scroll wheel has stopped working; time for an upgrade.

If that's a wheel mouse optical, if you overclock the polling rate to 1000hz or 500hz, it's what the majority of top CS players use. A lot of top quake live duelers use it as well. It's a good mouse, good sensor. It doesn't excel at anything though, it's a great all rounder when overclocked though.

Just the polling rate. You have a g700, I think logitech software will let you change the polling rate. If you have a cheap generic mice, a lot of them become significantly better if you change the polling rate. http://www.ngohq.com/news/15043-how-to-increase-usb-sample-rate-in-windows-vista-7-a.html#ixzz1dfRTDX00

Logitech Setpoint has the option to go up to 1000.
