im looking into buying a gaming rig but need some help with picking out the right parts. I have a budget or 800 and all i need is the tower. I would also like a mother board that allows for future upgrades, so that way when my CPU becomes obsolete i can upgrade it.

Upgrade options for motherboards are limited at best. Intel tends to change socket type with every new generation of cpu, and while AMD's /AM3/AM3+ may have allowed more upgrade options AMD will be phasing that type of upgrading too. So when you buy a motherboard and cpu you tend to get the best you can which means small to no real upgrade.

For $800 budget for the tower "No Windows"

CPU

Mobo

Ram

Case

GPU

PSU

HDD

DVD

Now if you need Windows

Changes Below to fit budget :

CPU

Mobo

GPU

And if yoou want you can throw in an aftermarket cpu cooler for overclocking

Cooler

Don't buy that first CPU that was recommended "FX-8120" I have it in my secondary tower and it's terrible for "Steam" gaming. It won't let you play half of the games.

Here's a build for you with FX-8320 which is perfectly fine with Steam games.
