is it still worth buying a new DX10 graphic card like 8800 or the new ati's that are coming out even tho XP dont do DX10?

Yes. The 8800 is the fastest card out there for DX10 AND DX9.

Worth it if you wait another month or so for the price on DX10 cards to go down, otherwise right now...no.  Cash is precious.

Well, it depends on what card you have now... if you have a GeForce 6xxx or FX, and want to spend $300+ on an upgrade, it would be worth it. If you don't want to spend that much money on a new graphics card... just wait. Midrange 8 series cards will be out soon enough.

i have a very very sh*t graphic card rite now, and i'm willing to spend cdn$600 on a new graphic card (cause i gota upgrade msot of my other stuff too), and i'm upgrading in july, anyone know if the 8800 768mb will drop price by then?

July is probably a good time to buy. You can see how the R600 shapes out before you spend your hard earned bucks.

for the performance freak, yes it is worth getting the 8800's. but not for those who don't want performance at any cost or who have a limited budget. as LordEC said, the mid-range dx10 cards will be out in a month or two and they would be worth considering if your budget isn't huge.

Personally... I think the 8800 GT series is more worth it on XP then on Vista... Well they have so much power... they run anything... Awesome cards...
