Ebay for used. Or go to CompUSA, Frys, etc to find the laptop you like, and then buy it online at the cheapest place. Are you a sudent? Some universities have student discounts on laptops in their university stores.

Here's a link on graphics chips for laptops. The x1600 and 7600Go are a good balance of gaming power and battery...plus you can find them in reasonably weighted laptops. I think they've got a x1700 and 7700 Go now. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=39568
I bought an Inspiron 9400 myself with the 7900Go, but it's a desktop replacement laptop. While it is "portable" I'm not sure how long you'd like to lug it around.
