Hello, my sister's birthday is in a couple of months and I've already told her that I'll get her a new computer. Because she wants one that can play her games in mid to high settings. So I'm saving up

Anyways, I'm trying to get one that has a i7 core cpu and a 2gb gpu for around $750-$850 is that possible??

The closes I can find is this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229495

It's on sale right now and, but it might not be in a couple of months. So should I go for that one or can I maybe build one with similar specs for cheaper?

This is not a gaming PC - more like 70% editors and only 30% gaming.

Instead of wasting money on i7 and picking a garbage GPU, I'd do the contra.

Also building your own PC would give you better parts:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/QMLWjX 750$ build

With the rest of the money If you'd like to spend - I'd get a 250Gb SSD by Crucial MX100

@GTR12 mostly for gaming. i7 is not really needed for gaming, so a i5 does the job as well?

@AGM3002:

i5 is fine for games, you only need an i7 if your video editing.

You don't need an i7 for gaming.
Here's a build that can run games on High settings with 4GB if VRAM.

you'd expect more games to be optimized for i7 these days. BF4 gets nice fps gains from it already. then there is Witcher 3 listing i7 as recommended.

i mean these new consoles have 8 threads too, so it would be kind of logical to expect PC versions to be more optimized for 8 threads too this gen.

Edit: I tried to look up the benchmarks about BF4, but seems like i was wrong. I don't remember what game it was then, but i remember some game benefitting from i7 significantly.

Consoles only use 6 threads for gaming, besides the first game that doesn't support 4 threads has yet to be released, so the whole i7 thing seem to be a bit of hoax.

Consoles CPUs are too weak to even compare to an i5.
There are a few games that would gain from i7 like Crysis 3.
Other then that i5 is what you want for gaming.
All these "new games" requirements with i7 is BS.
How can they even say i7-3770 or FX-8350..? These CPUs are on a completely different level.

I vouch for CD Projekt REDs' (Witcher 3) joke XD

Probably because they're referring to the 8 threads in both cpu's

Giving people the idea that they don't optimize for four cores, or maybe they don't have to optimize, who knows

The fact is it works on i5 and it works perfectly

Chances the game supports 8 threads, but in seeing actual performance gains from i5 to i7 with a single gpu will be minor because of the fact that i5 vs i7 are nearly the same besides cache, and HT.

Thanks guys, I'm going to use both @PredatorRules and @insane_metalist advice. Building a pc shouldn't be that hard, right.
